Happy Aloha from Salem Oregon. It is only suppose to be 91 today. We head off on our first non-timeshare vacation in over a decade. We are headed to Crater Lake and will stay in the Lodge in the National Park. No WIFI, no TV, no Frig in the Room, etc. Just days of enjoying the National Park and reading Books.

one of my fav mini-vacations of all time. I'm a real sucker for "rustic" (or on the other end, for great location with amenities on a swimmable piece of the ocean)

Back at you from the First Coast! The pic below is my current view. DW and I are at our favorite beach, Vilano Beach in St. Augustine. It’s pretty warm, not oppressively hot as it was a couple weeks ago.Happy Aloha Friday!!! So far the Summer has been a little cooler just like Winter and Spring. The trade winds have been comfortable along with our light rains in the morning.
This week's picture keeps us in Molokai and only takes us 3 miles from home. Saint Damien's Catholic Church sits just off the road in Kamalo. The church was built in 1876 and still welcomes visitors to this day.

Happy Aloha Friday. The weather is perfect for deck drying. Maybe next week I can stain it. Top will be a grey blue and the bottom will be white. I think the solid stain will last about 8 to 10 years so this might be my last time doing this job. We will see how I feel in my 70's , lol

We like scrapple for breakfast when we're in Delaware. Occasionally we can find the frozen kind in Minnesota but it's not as good as fresh scrapple cooked extra crispy.
My Dad, loved some fresh scrapple cooked extra crispy with eggs. I did not realize it was still being carried in grocery stotes.

Happy Aloha Friday!!! July is flying by but it's been a nice summer so far, not too hot and not too cold. We go to Hiro's tonight for Kim's Ukulele Jam.
This week's picture takes us back to Oahu and Waikiki. It shows the long lines on Kuhio Avenue at Marugame Udon. It's a must stop in Waikiki. The prices are right and they make the noodles right in the window.

Aloha Friday! There are sandy beaches on MN lakes, but it's just not the same. We grew up on the east coast and we miss the ocean.

I saw a couple of these on our trip to Japan last month. I almost didn't recognize it. No line. Obviously it is popular in Japan, but they have many hundreds of locations and more competition in Japan. MU even has some in Taiwan & other places.
We stayed near the Kuhio MU once. It was always funny to me how long the line was. I had eaten at MU years ago in Japan and couldn't imagine waiting that line, but eventually I broke down and decided "I'll go at opening to see how good this one is. I mean, who wants to eat udon at 10 am in Waikiki?" Well, right at 10 am, the line was already there, as long as ever. Walking by, I always fel tsorry for the tiny place next door that sold ?some kind of bento-type stuff?. Their storefront was swamped by the MU line.

and now for something different; instead of a mountain from below, I'll do some mountains from at least half-way up. THis first one is not as scenic as those WA mountains, but if you like cabernet, you can do worse than go to exactly where this pic was taken. 2 guys bringing up the caboose on a Napa/Sonoma bike ride. This is where the road goes over the (almost) top of Mt Veeder.
Those chopped and burned trunks you see were burned in the Napa Wildfire of 2017. This was taken about 4 months later. All the way up there were burned remnants of trees and some buildings, and also heavy, noisy equipment removing same. I should have taken more pics, but when you're taking the KOM pic-taking can wait. That vineyard behind that fence and the one behind the photo-taker give world-class cabernet.
