I'm in the process of receiving 2 weeks at Gaslamp Plaza Suites from a TUG member. I have been a happy 1 week owner for many years. I like to stay there, and have made many great trades through II.

My only concern is the new Management Company -- Capital Vacations.

All the info available in the Capital Vacations sub- forum from TUG members indicates that trading in your deeds for Capital Points
could cause a significant increase in the cost of a week's use.

There are also reports of transition issues in paying MF to various resorts . Hopefully this is resolved.

As an experienced TS owner you should know how to avoid sales etc.

We had a wonderful stay there many years ago. Talking to a childhood friend of my daughter last week and she mentioned she worked selling timeshares for them many years ago,
 
Two times in December with separate TUG members each has initially agreed to transfer their timeshare to me and then did a complete 180 and refused to honor their agreement.

These were freebie givaways in the Free Timeshares forum? Odd they would change their mind unless someone contacted them and offered cash instead of free.

It looks like they were not that interested in unloading it. There are thousands of them available for free at other sites. Go for it.

I adopted a 1 bdrm SDO from another Tugger for the cost of LT paperwork, $250. The MF is reasonable at about $850/week.

I look forward to future trading in II with Vistana preference. Also a nice resort to stay if no trade.

When done, I plan to re-home it with another Tugger on the Tug giveaway forum so others can make memories.

Yeah, that happens the other way around, too. A long time Tugger kept me on the hook for a few months and then said they didn’t want it. It is what it is.

Update, we gave our week at Enchanted Isle, to another TUG member. Now we have one timeshare, down from a time we had 10 weeks at 10 resorts. Been a fun timesharing experience.
 
Hmm, I took over a Fox Run from the free timeshares forum for free, just take over MFs. And I have a Pigeon Forge one kind of in limbo waiting on Explora I think that cost $150 in resort fees. We'll see if that comes through or not. (I'm kind of assuming they'll tell me when they process it if only to get MFs).

Why is it in limbo? I'm in the process of buying (free) an Exploria-managed Gatlinburg timeshare. Is it not as simple as completing and notarizing their paperwork with a copy of driver's license and new deed?

IDK, I did that and haven't gotten anything in the mail yet. IDK what the transfer time is, so I always count the "paid" or paperwork filed till you could log in or try and book "limbo time".

Ok. I thought maybe they were questioning something. Do you mind updating once you hear something from Exploria, so I'll know what to expect?

I have given away 20-25.. Lost count on how many. The first one I gave away was a Polynesian Isles 2 bed to a gentleman on TUG. I also gave away a Gold Marriott's Willow Ridge 2 bed, EOY. Rick and I listed a bunch of Wyndham contracts over the last two years that we have successfully given away.

I have also acquired at least one, a Sheraton Desert Oasis one bedroom.

We may be giving away some others, but for now I am happy with what we have and what we have purged. It's rather like our getting rid of stuff around here that we do not need or want anymore. It's a purging of all kinds of dishes, housewares, clothes and books at our house. Feels good.

I was interested in GTS because it is close to home and the price was right (free!). My other timehare is in Vegas, so I either have to spend money on flights, exchange fees or both. I eventually want to get rid of Vegas, but the fees are cheap and it is a decent trader. I started to ask some questions about your Ad, but with all the uncertainty surrounding the economy, I'm not interested in taking on another timeshare. Plus, my parents own at Bent Creek, which is 10-15 mins away from GTS when there is no traffic and I can always take theirs over.

As for your Ad, you should consider posting the points/expo chart so folks can see what 138 expos will get. I own a deeded week, so I'm not familiar with expos. Based on your reservation, it looks like138 will get a week during the winter season in a 2-bedroom. As an owner, your cost to use week 48 is $1714 (maintenance fees, club fees for odd & even years), but I can rent a 2BR Premium Week 48 directly from Exploria for $1563 including taxes/fees. That is sad, but true for a lot of timeshares.
 
We recently acquired two weeks in a two bed unit with UVCI aka the Villa Group in Mexico. This was a Gold Winter membership that included most of the UVCI resorts. The transfer upgraded this membership to VPA points which added a new resort to our portfolio and gave the flexibility to reserve any size unit at 24 months out. It only took 18 days from pm'ing the person giving it away, talking to the management company to actual transfer. Since we haven't been to the Valencia it's on our list now that it's available with this new membership.
