Did you give away or adopt a timeshare on the Bargain Deals forum?

I adopted a Hilton Bay Club by Waikoloa 8400 points every year. The deed is in our name, waiting for Hilton. All-in, will cost right at $1k after all fees are paid.
I am sorry if the following is basic. I'm assuming that this is a HGVC. If you adopted these points, do you get first dibs on finding a week or days at this property about 12 months ahead of time versus 9 months before at a different HGVC property?

Yep, but I don’t use it. Bay Club has great availability all year long really. That’s why it’s not a premium location(and it was given away).

I have adopted a timeshare in the Daytona/Ormond Beach FL area; transaction has been almost flawless.

I took the Wyndham Patriot's Place Governor's Green tour and signed a contract to buy 105,000 points for $12,100, but I told the sales agent that if I found a better offer the following day at a nearby timeshare resale agency, I would cancel my purchase with him. He joked, "You won't find a better price in this city or I'd have purchased it."

Received an EOY ODD Waterside by Spinnaker from a fellow TUG member. This is my 3rd Spinnaker from TUG members. Some members shy away from Spinnaker due to the required advance payment of MFs but since it truly is just an advance payment I don’t mind at all. Thanks to the generosity of fellow TUG members I get to add another week to our in HHI trips starting in 2023!

This looks familiar :) LOL I think this was my experience shared here on TUG.

I've tried unsuccessfully for years to sell my Tahoe Seasons timeshare. When I posted it on TUG, at least 5 individuals expressed interest. The deed was transferred out of my name with the assistance of Legal Timeshare Transfers in less than 90 days! Regards, TUG.

With a Presidents Week reservation at Lake Tahoe that has now changed to a mid-July reservation, my sister and I gave up our Ridgepointe two-bedroom condo EOY. The new Tugger owner, my sister, and I are all pleased. As a lockoff, this timeshare really helped us out. I had excellent deals, and I remember one year receiving an AC for the lockoff's one bedroom side in addition to the two trades. We chose the first inquirer out of the two that exhibited interest. However, handling the two to three weeks of transactions was simply too much for us to handle at this time, therefore on to a new owner RidgePointe! Funtime

By any chance, will you be renting out your 2023 weeks? We really like Waterside by Spinnaker.

I always try to link to this forum anytime i see someone who makes a similar claim that they have had no luck in the past. almost all the ones that take the 90 seconds to register and post have at least some interest!

so very many still never bother....can easily see why upfront fee exit scams that will "do it all for you" are still so popular today.

Unfortunately we won’t. We traded into Waterside through RCI to make sure we liked it before the “purchase” and that convinced us that we will be using the week for us to stay EOY. It does have a lots of great features. I just wish they included bikes like most of the other Spinnaker properties on HH, but that Is a minor con.

If you have an RCI account you should be able to find a trade though it does seem to show up in the search results quite often.

I get it -- we love it there too!

I do have an RCI account but I've never seen a summer week pop up.

I've adopted several from this forum and find it very useful. Have had several separate negative experiences when DW or DH hasn't thoroughly communicated with the other about intent to give away their timeshare. Once I provided all my pertinent personal information to DH and then a week later he reneged on the whole deal because DW put the kabosh on it. Not much can be done about this kind of outcome.

If you gave away or adopted a timeshare on the Bargain Deals forum, (this board) please post a note here. I thought it would be interesting to keep a record.
We got a timeshare resale from a TUG Member at Orange Lake, we gave it away after a couple of years to a friend

Denise, I am trying to sell a timeshare and just noted your subject here referring to "gave away". Please explain how that differs from selling it for Dollar.
thanks.

It's essentially the same thing. The new owner gets the timeshare for nothing, more or less. Some timeshares typically sell for several thousand dollars. (HGVC is one example.)

There is no difference between giving it away and selling for $1.

I received two 3 bedroom Spinnaker Bluewater annual timeshares from a tug member and we love that resort and Hilton Head Island.

Spinnaker will not allow owners to bank weeks in Interval or RCI during the summer in both Waterside and Bluewater Resort and Marina, Owners must first call Spinnaker to bank a week and they will not allow summer weeks to be banked in II or RCI. Their philosophy is those weeks need to be saved for owners to use.
