Could any Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare owner look up availability on some dates for me?

I'm considering acquiring a HGV timeshare worth 5000 points. Looking at the official booking rates, as well as other terms, it appears a timeshare would make sense for me. However, the points aren't worth anything if I can't utilize them the way I want, and my requirements aren't any high (Las Vegas and Orlando would be my top destinations). To make sure it's not a cat in the bag, I'd like to see the availability of certain days and locations for myself before acquiring the timeshare from a third party.

Could any helpful soul who is an owner of HGV timeshare look up availability on the following dates and locations for me in 2022? (Not counting on the last two on the list, just checking these out of curiosity.)

  1. Nevada - Las Vegas - Flamingo - 2/10-14 (4 nights)
  2. Nevada - Las Vegas - Elara - 2/10-14 (4 nights)
  3. Nevada - Las Vegas - Flamingo - week 44 (7 days)
  4. California - MarBrisa - week 44 (7 days)
  5. Florida - Orlando (any resort) - week 22 or 23 (7 days)
  6. Florida - South Beach - week 22 (7 days)
  7. Florida - Captiva Island (any resort) - week 22 or 23 (7 days)
  8. Florida - Fort Myers - week 22 or 23 (7 days)
Screenshots for each search criteria would be lovely. Thank you in advance.

In that case it is 3400 for a 1Bdrm and 5000 for a 2Bdrm for either week 22 or 23.

Looks like the availability is very decent. Basically everything non-crazy is available for booking. Thank you @kanerf!

You will have a hard time with Captiva. HGVC only has a few units there and those owners don’t usually trade them back into the system.

With timesharing it’s best to be as flexible as possible with your travel dates.

In generally, Orlando and Las Vegas aren’t difficult because HGVC has lots of units.
Other locations don’t offer as many rooms and availability will vary. So expect competition during peak travel seasons. Some locations are harder to book than others.

Orlando has 4 locations and a total of 1,494 rooms
  1. HGVClub at SeaWorld Orlando - 516
  2. HGVClub at Tuscany Village - 440
  3. Parc Soleil by HGVClub - 312
  4. Las Palmeras, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club - 226

Las Vegas has 5 locations and a total of 2,552 rooms
  1. HGVClub at the Flamingo 200
  2. HGVClub on Paradise 232
  3. HGVClub on the Boulevard 714
  4. HGVClub at Trump International Hotel Las Vegas 205
  5. Elara, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club 1,201

Compared to the smaller resorts outside of Orlando:

  2. [Affiliate]The Cottages at South Seas Island Resort, Captiva, FL—14
  3. [Affiliate]Harbourview Villas at South Seas Island Resort, Captiva, FL — 10

@alwysonvac Thank you for sharing this. Very helpful. Can you paste or link to unit counts for other HGV properties? Thank you.

All the Hilton info on resorts and room counts are found in the sticky found at the top of the HGVC Forum page (but for which I have also included the link).

Since Las Vegas and Orlando are your top destinations, you may want to consider renting.
Avoid increasing annual maintenance fees, club dues, transaction fees, open season rates

Both Orlando and Las Vegas are overbuilt with lots of timeshares.

Thanks @Sandy VDH. I looked at this thread previously but didn't spot the post with unit counts.

@kanerf @alwysonvac @Sandy VDH Could any of you also look up availability/flexibility for other locations for me? At this point, I already know I want to pull the trigger and join HGV, and I need to decide whether I should go for 5000 points (my base plan) or upgrade my searches to 7000-10000 points so I could take advantage of more pricey stays like New York or DC, assuming these places are reasonably bookable like Las Vegas or Orlando.
  1. Washington, DC - any week between 33 and 36
  2. Chicago, IL - any week between 14 and 16
  3. New York - any week between 29 and 34
Thanks in advance!

I looked at the these offers but the timeshare appears to make more sense financially. 5000 points with Elara, Las Vegas is roughly $1000/yr in maintenance and club fee, plus booking ($60/booking). 5000 points buys 2-3 weeks depending on location off season. Whereas the rental offers are roughly $1000/week.

Yeah, I eventually found it there, is what I meant to say.

The “by Hilton Club“ resorts have a shorter booking window (closer to checkin).
So the dates are grayed out until the booking window opens but still showing some availability.
Hopefully I got the right date ranges ;)

@alwysonvac Thank you. I didn't realize some resorts are like this. Would you mind checking if New York, Chicago and DC are easily bookable within their booking window, whatever it is? Random date within the booking window for them would do.

NYC is very hard to book on weekends, but easy to book weekdays. There are currently zero available weekend rooms in NYC for regular owners. I think if you book right when the window opens you can grab weekends, but I've never actually tried.

DC is easier, many but not all weekends are available during the club booking window.

So you are planning on owning a 1br Grand Gold Season (5000 pts), then staying in the smallest Studio Gold Season (1600 pts) so you can stay 3 weeks?

If you need full weeks in Vegas, its a solid plan. After 3-4 days I’m ready to leave. Weekdays are 1/2 as many points as weekends, so you could stretch it to a month of weekdays.

This is basically what I do with my one week I own, stretch it to a month of vacation. I own more points, so I’m not limited to studios.

Exactly! Or probably combine something more pricey like one week Miami off-season with one week Las Vegas off-season. Or two mid-week stays in LV, following your clever advice!

Looking at this all, I'm already 100% convinced 5000 points is the way to go. Now contemplating whether to upgrade to 7000-10000 range if I find a reasonable offer.

I wouldn’t go any lower than 7000 points. You will always find a way to use them. Whether it’s longer or more trips, upgraded rooms or bringing more people, you will use them. The cost to enroll any deed the same and you will get more points for your MF. If you have to divest yourself of the deed, the platinum will be easier and quicker. Just a thought.

I am a Hilton Club member so my access would be different than yours for these locations.

If you purchased a 7000 point Platinum season deed at the same location, your maintenance fee would be the same as the 5000 point Gold season deed. I'd seriously look into that if I were you. The small extra amount you pay upfront is far outweighed by the extra 2000 points you get every year, for as long as you own it.

The other option is to look at a 4800 point deed (1BR, Plat season), as that would have almost as many points but the MF will be less since it is a 1BR vs. 2BR.

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. 5,000 listings in Vegas (or other low MF locations) are plentiful and very affordable but 7000 / 8400 is where it gets trickier. Hopefully I'm able to find something with MF<=$1300, 7000-8500 points for less than $3,500 (excl. closing).
