The Oregon Ducks football team were defeated by Ohio Stare on January 1, 2025. My prediction came true.
Prediction #2 Notre-Dame will defeated Georgia .ND bracket is more easy than Oregon. IMHO
Oregon must play a fired up Ohio State team next.
its interesting for sure, though ive seen the other argument in that all 4 of those teams played an extra game during the season (their conf championship).Every Team that got a Bye in the First Round has now lost in the Second Round.
That’s what they should do so the championship game could be played on New Year’s Day. The season would then fit within the school calendar and the portal wouldn’t be such a big issue from a calendar standpoint. I don’t think they will ever do it because that’s too much TV money to turn down, but it would fix a couple of problems.Wouldn't bother me if they did away with conference championship games and shortened the regular season by a week or even more.
if i had a vote, id just go top 8...week off after all champ games (so two weeks off for those not in those games)...no byes or auto seeding. My observations thus far:
1)Bye was more of a curse than a blessing.
2)Hosting the on campus game was an advantage.
3)There aren't any teams that didn't make the cut this year that have a legitimate claim to a spot.
4) Given that the 5&6 ranked teams are in the semis, a field of 4 was definitely not big enough.
I hope going forward they expand to 16 teams and seed by rank. Wouldn't bother me if they did away with conference championship games and shortened the regular season by a week or even more.
How about eliminating the Portal in football until after the Final NCAA Football Championship game of each year. Why not delay the Portal until after the final game.
Kids need to enroll in school. Top 8 would be better. Some conference champs and wildcards. Why not delay the Portal until after the final game.
Are you going to change the college calendar simply to accommodate a few football teams? One semester ends in early-mid December and the new one starts early-mid January. Extracurricular sports and other activities, including college football until the advent of the playoff, have always been made to fit within that timeline. That hasn’t changed in my lifetime and I’m 70 years old. College football, however, has stretched their season to begin in late August before classes have even started and most students aren’t even on campus yet. It used to end on New Year’s Day before the semester began. This year, it ends on January 20, well after classes have started. The portal problem is entirely the fault of colleges chasing more and more dollars without regard to the academic impact on the students they claim to be trying to protect. The students are free to go to the school of their own choosing as long as they pass the admissions process, so they can’t force them to stay at one school past the end of a semester. Quite frankly, I don’t understand why you would even want to force a person to remain on your team that no longer wants to be there. The courts have already ruled the NCAA can’t restrict students from transferring simply because they play football. So, the only way to fix the problem is for the NCAA to reduce the length of the season, which means reducing the number of games which, in turn, means giving up some TV dollars. College football has put itself into a catch-22 position. Why not delay the Portal until after the final game.
There are always going to be students that don't care about their education. I believe they are a small minority and most of the athletes are indeed students. For example, this year's Heisman winner, Travis Hunter, also has a 4.0 GPA.Are today's college football and basketball players students athletes or are they gladiators trained to bring in big money for their college coaches, their universities and the major television?? networks???? ?
