Caution with rental requests for owner details...

I occasionally will rent out my timeshares at Westin Lagunamar and Harborside at Atlantis. Most rentals go smoothly but this morning I got the following message in response to a RedWeek ad I have posted:

Hi Michael - we are interested in renting your time share. Can we get the owner details so that we can contact Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort to confirm your ownership. Thanks

Sounded fishy so I responded that I would be happy to talk about it and call resort on conference call. — No response in 7 hours.

It’s just a hunch they were fishing for info to do something bad so I won’t post their email address unless I get more insight.

Owners (and renters too) be cautious out there.

I have constantly told Vistana that they need to institute a password verification policy when verifying owners when calling in. All they ask is for name, address and phone number to verify the owner. All that can easily be found via internet. What I have done is use an unlisted phone number that was tied to a land line that I don’t use any more but easily remember
