. The Staroption chart specifies a value for Friday arrival, I am not sure if other days or more expensive, not possible etc...
StarOption charts use Friday as the start of a calendar week for purposes of determining its number as the different seasons for StarOption charts are pegged towards ranges of weeks by their calendar number. With StarOptions you can arrive any day of the week for up to 21 nights in a single reservation.

I was comparing to a presentation of a new Abound Program vs. Resale. The maintenance fee for an equivalent week would cost 40% more annually.
This brings up an important point - resale prices of Vistana mandatory resorts will go up as MVC members who want more realize this. So OP is making a good move.

As a new owner via Syed Resale, I agree 100%. Resale is the only way to go. WKORVN annual for $17k while Abound with the developer would have been $103k. Savings of 84% in purchase and 40% in recurring maintenance fees. Check rofr.net . It is handy in making an offer for any resale.
ROFR.net is great. The recent WKORVN entry for "t*m r*y" is a broker in Maui - he and I spoke about the ROFR recently and they have been more aggressive as of late, but there is a "passed" entry since T*m's that is lower than what his failed at. So there seems to be a timing/luck element to ROFR.

A tip for OP - get the maintenance included in the price (get the seller to "eat" maintenance for the current year but increase the price by that amount, so they end up with the same cash) so you get a higher top line price at ROFR.

It's definitely a buyers market in Maui at the moment. Whether it's due to the fire, increase in MFs or general economic conditions I'd say resale prices are down 33% from where they were 6 moths ago. Add to that, the 40% realtor fees someone like Syed charges on the less expensive units makes it hard to sell at the moment. Renting is also a difficult alternative as I'm seeing an average of 30 rentals per week listed across the 2 KOR/N properties for the next 12 months when a year ago it was more like an average of 5-10 rentals per week. I guess the only real option is to continue taking vacations there. Bummer :giggle:

For the original poster, you need to experience it in person. Each has different vibes. I really like North Oceanfront. It has beautiful views, the property is well-maintained (all their properties are), and just had fantastic accommodations. We prefer the 1 bedroom, and we then use the Studio and exchange it for a 1 bedroom Islandview (or we may rent the studio down the line). We currently own 2 Bedroom Oceanfront every Even Year, but today received note that Westin waived ROFR for an annual 2 bedroom Oceanfront, so we are excited to close (It takes about a month or too once they waive it, its a long process).

At the North property? At what price? Please enter the transaction at www.rofr.net ; we need those data points.
