Just as an example of what a phenomenal deal this can be, even for resale owners without an HK credit:

I just checked and I can book a week in a 1 bedroom at Bonnet Creek from November 14 - November 21 for $420 using bonus time. Even if I needed to pay another $175, $595 for a week in a 1 bedroom at Bonnet Creek is still really good. That’s 84,000 points. So at $595 that’s costing $7.08 per point. Not bad at all and that’s less than I pay in maintenance fees per thousand points at Bonnet Creek (with the program fee).

In the same time period I can pay $825 for a three bedroom at Club Wyndham Reunion using Bonus time. $1,000 for a week in a 3 bedroom in Orlando is still a decent deal. That’s 165,000 points. So at $1,000, that’s costing $6.06 per point. That’s less than I pay in maintenance fees plus program fee than my Grand Desert contract.

Or making changes to it because they find an inordinate amount of these "bonus time" bookings having GC's attached to them. I can already see the wheels in motion.

I have not found too many that I have been interested in, because at the end of the day, this is inventory everyone else has passed on, right? I have not looked too hard yet, either.

But I do see some utility in this especially for last minute bookings. Just a little surprised Wyndham is requiring HK on top of them, unlike Worldmark

Is this a better discount than VIPP get?
cannot use guest passes with them

What a weird assumption to make. VIP owners paid a crapton for their status and they deserve the benefits. As a resale owner, this is a good deal for me so why should I care if it’s a better deal for VIPs? Of course it is. I get what I paid for; they get what they paid for.
Not weird. You are correct that people should not complain. But go back in time and see some resell owners complaining about benefits VIP owners had they did not have.

I’d be interested to see those complaints. Have a link?

Yep because we still get the discount. We get the $5 per 1000. We get the unlimited housekeeping. Just can't use guest passes and cannot take points protection

You sure about the GC? When I go to book it gives me the option of “a guest not associated with this account”

It is new. Just wait. We get the $5.00 per thousand on top of the discounts along with the unlimited housekeeping credits. You don't think some will complain that it is unfair we still get the discounts? I do.

mine said no guest certificates allowed if I pick bonus time. It did have the guest option when making the reservation but under bonus time it said none allowed

On top of the $5 per 1000 on top of the discounts and unlimited housekeeping, lets not forget the upgrades I assume everyone gets. I just booked a one bedroom upgraded to a 2 bedroom for $24 a night because I was out of points.

Yeah some people are not going to complain.

That pretty much sums it up. Wyndham could have easily introduced Bonus Time as a VIP only benefit. Resale owners know which side our bread is buttered on with this Bonus Time benefit. There will not be a peep from resale owners for fear of rocking the boat.

Legitimately thinking about spending this weekend in Shawnee Village because of this new feature.

I have not had a chance to look at this new bonus time yet.

I know WM bonus time, so how does it compare.

Price per Point? Fixed or variation (based on how far in advance it is). found it at $5/K points. This includes VIP discounts and upgrades as well.
HK included or not? Didn't go that far, and I have UHK so I likely won't be presented it anyway.
GC or not? Bonus Time is not available using Guest Confirmations.
Cancellation period or not? 24 hours only, unless you buy insurance. WM has a better policy there, but with VIP an cash Wynd could be a better deal.

Do they actually have a landing page for how the bonus time works?

Wyndham: “Here’s this brand new option. You can use it if you want.”

Some owners: “Well it could be better.”

Honestly I think some of you aren’t happy unless you’re unhappy.
Saying something could be better doesn't mean someone is unhappy with it.

As Resale, I can see this being a reason I might try Shawnee too. For anything on the eastern part of the country for me, i.e. within a day or two's drive, I might be interested for last minute trips. I don't see any huge negatives really - the HK would be similar to resort fees on an RCI Last Call so.. Also I don't really see what there is to complain about - Wyndham fills units that are otherwise likely empty, they get something for that, we get another place for last minute bookings. No one using timeshares normally is displaced by this - those people would have booked well earlier than 15 days out.

seems like a pretty good move for wyndham overall!

in this day and age they could mail you a 20 dollar bill and someone would still complain.

For Worldmark you can use BT for guests if you book five days before the first day reserved. GC required. Only four days BT can be booked.

It seems extremely poor planning if Wyndham is requiring HK for bonus time
The trade-off here versus WorldMark is that WorldMark has a $100/night minimum charge and a 4-night limit per Bonus Time and only one Bonus Time reservation at a time, which leads to complications trying to string together consecutive BT reservations for longer stays.

In other words, Club Wyndham Bonus Time is a much better deal for stays longer than a few days versus WorldMark with complimentary housekeeping on BT reservations.

So looks pretty cool. I wouldn't know anything about this (wouldn't begin to understand what is going on) if it wasn't for TUG! (I don't get emails, so those wouldn't have helped me).

So once again, thank you, TUG!
