[ 2018 ] rescinding bluegreen!

So, I am starting to worry again. My rescission was delivered last Tuesday. But I haven't heard anything or seen any changes in my account yet. How long did it typically take everyone to know the recission worked?
A lot of times they don't actually communicate with you, but they will still process it. The best indicator in these cases it to watch for a refund of your down payment. If you used a credit card, you'd see a credit back to that card, etc. Sometimes it will take a while, but they do have a timeframe they have to process the refund and recission to be in compliance with the law. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I want to say somewhere in the 30 to 40 day window for most jurisdictions.

Your rescission worked if you had it Postmarked within the legally allowable rescission timeframe.

Refunds can take as long as 45 days, so go celebrate and think about buying resale the next time around.

Week 2 1/2 post recission letter sending. Still nothing. But blue green keeps sending me links for a survey about my experience during their presentation.

So, folks … I bought 9000 BG points some years ago on eBay for $1. No regrets. But this weekend while staying at the Elian in San Antonio (great resort, btw), we did the routine “update.” I’ve done it plenty of times. But this time was the first time I’d seen the Travelers Plus Elite program. Short version is that we bought 4000 retail points to get access to that program. I understand how to rescind, and am still doing some research. So, from you experts to a newbie in this area - is there a way to have access to Travelers Plus by NOT having to buy more points, or are points on the resale market eligible for Travelers Plus? I’m looking at more information than I can absorb, and I’m old and not as savvy as I once was. ;)

Time is ticking away for me to make that rescind move, so a timely answer from brilliant people like yourself is MOST appreciated!

Soooo, TP is essentially a travel club/booking site similar to using Expedia or RCI travel that you already have access to.
4000 points x $3.50-4.00 = $14,000-$16,000

What is it you think you will get from adding TP to your ownership?
Since this is a retail purchase, you will get access to Bonus Time at all resorts.
Do you use Bonus Time?
and with the purchase of BG by Hilton, BG resorts will be available to all HVC Max owners at 6 months out leaving very little Bonus Time at 45/48 days out for BG owners.

My reason for making a retail purchase in 2010was to have access to RCI Point Resorts ( different than weeks and can be booked 2-14 days at a time)
But with only 9,000 points it is not likely you use RCI.

I have never used Travelers Plus in the 13 years I have owned with BG,

That's helpful. We now have 13,000 points, which in the grand scheme of things isn't much. What was appealing to us was the ability to book RCI in daily increments. Hot weeks for 3000 was intriguing. Bonus time, another plus. My wife and I are still working, and we have generous vacation time. But it would be a couple of years before we could take full advantage. And we tend toward shorter vacations, maybe 4 or 5 nights. TP Elite "looks" good, but if I could get that without having to buy retail points, I'd for sure do that. Is that even possible? (As an aside, we're also Disney Vacation Club owners, have been since 2006, and use the heck out of it. We bought BG initially to trade, since using Disney points outside of Disney is an awful use of points.)

Hello all! I would like to thank everyone at advance for all their posts and replies. My phone is suggestions in this letter and since my cancellation letter within the prescribed time. The only problem I've discovered after sending it is according to the contract it did not specify to send the letter ATTN to any one. Just specifically have blue green theme and address which is the same. Is this an issue? Should I resend another letter with the ATN: CORPORATE SALES AND ACCOUNTING DEPT listed? Will have saved me $20k!

Apologies for the errors in my initial post I was doing talk to text. That second line should have read that I sent my cancellation letter within the prescribed amount of time.

Don't worry about it. They will figure it out. Their mail is loaded with rescissions! Hopefully you sent this via Certified USPS Mail and retained a copy of the Postmarked receipt (and also a copy of all the paperwork you mailed).

NOTE: It doesn't matter when they receive your rescission paperwork but it DOES matter when it was Postmarked. I believe Bluegreen uses a Post Office Box and they do not pick up their mail daily (but not to worry). As long as you have your Postmark, and you mailed it within the required timeframe then you should be fine. Be patient and allow up to 45 days.

Good move to rescind!

Welcome to TUG.

Thank you for your quick reply. Yes I did send it certified and return receipt. 🤞

I follow several BG Facebook groups and saw this posted.
Several people spoke up and confirmed that they did rescind via email.
And one provided a screen shot of the page in the contract that shows the way to rescind.
I think my route would be to e-mail and to follow up with US Mail but your email certainly is time stamped.

The email address is BGTN.services@bluegreenvacations.com

This is a contract signed in Florida so be sure to check this is available in the state you purchase in. It states this is for Tennessee - so please check your specific contract.
Bluegreen is based on Florida

I just bought the 6k point ownership yesterday. I want out. I am still at resort, can I just take this bag of stuff and contracts back over to them with a letter to rescind? Do i also need to mail a certified letter? I purchased in Gatlinburg TN. How many days do I have to rescind?

Thanks a lot. I Cant believe I was sucked in to this sale pitch but anyways.
Thanks for the little letter that I can use for a templet. Is that all you signed and sent back or is there another return letter that I have to sign and send back. I have a lot of papers and I'm Guessing I need to send everything back?
Thanks in advanced.

You only need to send the letter.
Be sure to check your paperwork to make sure you send it within the time frame of your state.
Send it via United States Post Office so you have proof of the day it was mailed.

I assume if you went past that 10 days and things happened such as finances getting tough there's no way out? I'm brand new here, reviewing several links, articles, etc. Just reviewing options as money got very tight. The Bluegreen "Mortgage" i have isn't paid off, and one of the "give it back to Bluegreen" links I read said the cost to give it back (assuming it's paid off) is 2x the maintenance fees. Is that like, a one-off, or do you paid 2x the fees annually henceforth lol?
I liked several of the things about the program, the tenessee mountain lofts were nice, and was going to check out some of their virginia options, but my wife's job lost stability and I fear draining our savings, so seeking the best thing I can do.
I'd like to avoid defaulting (one of the options mentioned on the page TUG links)

It's a one time payoff and you're out and done!

Not sure why you would think you would pay 2x once per year -- if that were the case then you might as well hold on to the unit and pay once annually.

Best of luck and welcome to TUG.

I also used the template and hand-delivered it since we hadn't yet left the free vacation. They were impressed with the templates, and asked my wife why we were canceling, but were nice about it and offered to use a different letter for the verifying we had returned the owner kit.

<name and address>

Contract reference number: <contract>

Printed Name: __________________________
Signed: _______________________________
Agent of BlueGreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc

They tried to refund it, but said the paperwork had gone out this morning, so said we should send the letter to the corporate office, which we were planning on doing anyway.

Hopefully everything goes well from here. Thank you to all here as I should have done more research before signing yesterday. Particularly after things that were said upstairs were different once we got downstairs to the official contracts, etc.

We did talk to the sales people upstairs afterwards to let them know various mistakes and misinformation that they were giving out. I think some of it was simply ignorance and not malice.

They are not ignorant.
They chose to lie and tell half truths every day
All day long .

Please get proof of mailing your Letter to the address that is in your paperwork.
Do not leave anything with sales; they will not mail it for you.

Did you yourself mail the rescind letter?
If you did not, write a second one and mail it yourself.
Short and sweet is fine.

Good luck.
