[ 2016 - to present ] What is the best movie and or Tv series you have watched on Netflix or Amazon Prime??

800 words - Widowed father moves two kids to small beach town. It's another relationship drama at its best is very funny and touching….

Thanks for this recommendation! I’m five episodes in, and totally hooked! It’s a lovely, sweet, funny series.

FAUDA on Netflix

Its about a special ops team and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Sounds heavy but honestly was so enlightening although still a heavy drama. 4 seasons, u wont recognize any of the actors. Very well done.

Thanks for this, just added it to my list.

Shrinking on Apple TV+. Jason Segal, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams show that therapists have their own issues. It’s very funny at times, sad at times and heartwarming at times. Very good show.

Jack Irish on Acorn TV
Filmed in Australia
Stars Guy Pearce
Has movies and seasons.
If you are going to watch, spend a little time and make sure you are watching in order
The series builds over time
One of my all time favorite series

I loved Jack Irish. Kind of an amped up version of the Rockford Files. I like the horse racing story lines underneath the main story lines. One little known Guy Pearce movie I ran across that was really good was 33 postcards. Drama about a pen pal relationship gone wrong. Very original story, excellent acting.

I watched SCOOP on Netflix. Based on a true story of corruption in the Indian media. It was kind of eye opening. I don’t trust our media anymore. After watching this mini series, I trust it even less!

For any sports fans out there, I just watched Underrated on Apple TV+. It’s a documentary about Steph Curry and focuses on his college years at Davidson College and his efforts to earn his degree after leaving early for the NBA. I really enjoyed it!

Rectify is absolutely brilliant. Slow moving intense drama about a man who was convicted of rape and murder. As the drama unfolds we meet his family and former friends and delve into this character driven series. Sundance Channel series - available on Netflix and Amazon.

Jessica Jones is an action packed thriller based on a comic book. Dark humor. Netflix.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a hilariously wacky contemporary comedy. The main character was kidnapped as a preteen and has been kept underground for 10 years. When she's rescued she decides to try to make it on her own in NYC. She makes some ridiculous friends and encounters unpredictable situations. Netflix.

Cowspiracy and Blackfish are documentary films that may change the way you think. Both are on Netflix.

Underground is action drama about slaves escaping from the south. It's available on Amazon.

Continuum and Orphan Black are both sci-fi action thrillers with strong female leads. Both are on Amazon.

The first season of Jessica Jones is fantastic.

We dont watch much TV, but we are watching the 3rd season of The Righteous Gemstone on Max with Danny McBride and John Goodman. You have to like Danny McBride's humor, but it is great.

We are also watching the 3rd season of Warriors on Max - a action/drama show about the Chinese immigrants in San Fran around the turn of the century. Reminds me of a Chinese version of Peaky Blinders (with martial arts).

After we get back from touring the Big Island, we watch a few episodes of Suits. We saw it before and loved it. Netflix costs us the $6.99 per month but has commercials. The more you watch, the more frequent the commercials (or it seems that way).

I will check out some other channels. We dropped cable a while back. I told Rick we could spend a little more on apps, but I don't know what to add to the lineup. We have Netflix, Paramount+ (Joe Pickett and some great series by Taylor Sheridan), and we also pay for PBS to see Endeavour and Grantchester, two really great detective shows. I am fond of them.

Does Bosch have a new season? We watched a year ago, I believe, and we watched with commercials.

New season of Bosch not out yet, but new season of Lincoln lawyer has dropped.

I am watching the new episodes of Lincoln Lawyer and really enjoying them.

Dori
I am not enjoying it. There is something about the actor that leaves me flat.

I just started Dark Winds on AMC. I have read all the Hillerman novels and enjoying the series

Wednesday on Netflix. Addams family spinoff directed by Tim Burton. Hilarious and well done.

Jesus Revolution is currently on Netflix. We saw it in the theater and really enjoyed it. I want my stepdad to watch it with us tonight, perhaps.

I have to admit, I loved Matthew McConaughey way better.

Dori
I don’t know if it’s the characters or the script, there seems to be no tension, no grittiness that is in Michael Connelly's books.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, just started on Amazon Prime.

I’m watching Season three of:

Only Murders in the Building- Meryl Streep appears this season.

Reservation Dogs- I just love this quirky show, and the characters in it.

The Winning Time-the rise of the Lakers in the 1980’s. I’m not a big basketball fan and even I’m hooked. They have the sets and costumes on point, right down to shirts unbuttoned down to the navel with hairy chests and lots of gold jewelry topped off with tinted aviator glasses.

Last winter we binged the first two seasons and really enjoyed them. We are waiting for all season 3 episodes to drop before we start watching, as we hate having to wait each week for a new episode.

There won't be any new seasons of the original Bosch series as they switched over to the new series that focuses more on his daughter as a cop - but that series still has the original Bosch character as well as many of the other characters still in it called Bosch: Legacy.
