Well, there might be light at the end of the tunnel!
It has been 4 months since they promised to refund my money. I contacted the Pigeon Forge Police after the BBB and Ten Consumer affairs failed to have any impact on IAVacations or VP Title.
The police on the other hand were very accommodating. They made a visit today and talked to Hope at VP Title. Amazingly, I receive an e-mail from Hope and another from Jamie at IA within the hour. They both informed me that the cheque will be in the mail tomorrow. (then again, I have heard that before).
Again, time will tell. I will keep you updated.
AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS! THE PONZIE SCHEME WILL COME CRASHING DOWN SOONER OR LATER.

I know you have money involved here for the motivation, but you're doing a great job staying on their tails.
I didn't know that the local police force would be inclined to do these types of tasks. Way to go!
You must have been blocked. They are advertising a 2 BR Platinum Marriott Aruba Surf Club on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARRIOTT-AR...Timeshares&hash=item5afe2d133c#ht_3803wt_1312
There is lots of activity on it - 25 bids. They will probably sell it 25 times.
Hope from VP e-mailed me the USPS tracking number today for my cheque. I noticed she cc'd the officer that went to visit them. He must of requested a copy of e-mail/tracking info to make sure it got done.
I am feeling a little better everyday about this one. There will be no dancing on the tables until I receive the check and it clears.
I will let you know.
Our week (eBay resale) at Hyatt HI was last week. After attending an "owner's update", we decided that we would like another HI property as we enjoy the Carmel area - it is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from home. I checked on eBay and found a unit (#422, week 16) by redweek4sale. As a TUG member, I am aware of their poor reputation. I checked the completed eBay sales and discovered that this unit/week was sold by redweek4less for $5,049 (12 bids) on March 29 (10PM). I messaged redweek4less and they replied that the 3/29 winning bidder did not contact them within 24 hours and they relisted. This same unit/week sold four days later for $6,167 (18 bids) on April 2 (10PM). I wonder if they "sold" the same unit/week twice. I also wonder if they had a contract with the owner to sell this unit/week.
They are now "selling" another HI unit/week. Because this unit is also a desirable unit/week, I wonder if they have a contract with the owner to sell.
Based on past poor experiences of numerous tuggers and BBB complaints, I am reluctant to bid on any of their eBay auctions. It seems that my chance for a successful buying experience is less than 50%. After reading the history of this company (redweek4less, redweeks4less, IAVacations, VP Title, ...), it seems that they frequently sell timeshares for which they have no signed contract with the owner. How a company with such a business plan continues to survive amazes me.
Just won an eBay auction from Redweeks; the hard way. I was actually the runner-up high bidder and received a "Second Chance Offer" the following morning with the comment that Redweeks "had another unit just like the winning bidders" to sell me. I was jazzed, hit that Buy It Now button and then, after the fact read some threads on Redweeks. Needless to say TUGGERS had them pegged so I began by requesting estoppel on the unit. They sent me a Redweeks form (not the Developers estoppel) and I then was able to contact the "high bidder" on the auction and ask about the unit he was promised. He received the exact same Redweeks 'estoppel' form from them - they did not even change the week or unit numbers! I had my transaction cancelled and I think th high bidder is doing the same. Beware of Redweeks! They will take and keep your money for many months until they finally accept that there was no actual timeshare to sell in the first place. Redweeks and luky987 - I wish my Uncle Guido and his 'associates' were still around!
I posted above re my recent experience with redweek4less eBay auctions on two desirable Hyatt Highlands Inn timeshare units: unit 422, week 16, and unit 208, week 27. Was your recent experience related to either of these timeshares?
What I get so chapped about is how ebay enables these sharks to continue to operate.
I don't get it. When I try to rent something on ebay I believe I recall they ask for a deed to prove your ownership. How do they prove these sales shanks are legally able to sell what they list? Obviously they allow these shady brokers to overcome their validations because it been documented that they sell the same units over again.
Ebay should be held accountable for allowing these practices to continue.
