New scientific paper: offshore wind turbines alter marine eco-system, could shift ocean currents

Those days of 24 hours of darkness are really a problem

While you may have that in the very far north and south, that is not the usual problem with sun. Indeed, in summer, there would be more sun. I remember being in Talinn, Estonia during the "white nights" when it was daylight after a fashion at 2AM.

HOWEVER, for a reality check:

Clouds, fog, snow, ice, etc. can also substantially reduce or eliminate power production from solar panels. Those are the usual problems that solar has in producing power. Sometimes storms can set in for days. Sometimes snow and ice can last for days.

There is also the problem discussed in the video of the former Chief Science Advisor to the UK Department of Energy and Climate that I posted. In the UK, demand on the electric grid is highest in winter, but winter has fewer hours of daylight AND less intense sun, both of which significantly cut solar power production. In other words, the power supply from solar diminishes substantially right at the time it is needed most by society.

England needed Nuclear and Grid upgrades
They don't have them

Same with Germany

To late now
The AI demand for electricity
The supply chain overload

Has them in the same spot as the 13 Eastern US States
Which are part of the PJM Interconnect
Struggling to meet the upsurge in demand for electricity

I will remind you North Carolina is part of the PJM Interconnect

In areas of intermittent rain
Reducing evaporation from reservoirs is helping ease water shortages
Floating solar panels have been proven to reduce evaporation

With the hazardous substances in solar panels, what thinking person would want them floating in a reservoir that supplied drinking water? Or water for food crops?

Regarding South Australia Election

The election returned the Malinauskas Labor government with an increased majority, meaning the same party and Premier continue to govern. There was no leadership change at the top.

Labor’s platform is described as building on South Australia’s “strong shift towards renewable energy,” with a formal goal of 100% net renewables by 2027. Their plan includes:

  • Expanding large‑scale wind and solar
  • Supporting big batteries and long‑duration storage
  • Keeping some gas capacity for reliability during the transition
  • Streamlining approvals for renewable projects
Summary: Labor is strongly pro‑renewables and frames the transition as both economic and technical policy.

Does not appear that the renewable crowd lost their majority

My point, of course, was that the party running a strong second there (after scoring only 2% in the previous election) has taken a strong position nationally against the wind and solar "transition{" and gotten two long established parties to follow them in that direction. The South Australia state election I had offered as confirmation of the recent YouGov poll that had the anti-wind / solar party now tied with Labor nationally after only getting 3% in the 2025 national election..

More confirmation
of that poll has just arrived in the form of the results of the Farrer by-election for a seat in the national parliament from New South Wales, the first by-election (special election) of the current parliament. In that one, the candidate of that small party that opposes wind / solar transition won handily, beating his nearest opponent by over ten points. Farrer had been vacated by the former leader of one of the big established parties, which party had held that seat for 70 years.

Wind and solar did not get much love in the Farrer by-election.

What they did NOT need was intermittent electric production, but they got it. Now they have high electric rates and an unreliable system.

The effects of using Natural Gas to set prices in the European Markets
From Oxford University
Major Driver of Electrical Rate Increases throughout Europe

I doubt this will get much review since it has no political propaganda headlines

This report does not propose Nationalizing Natural Gas Production or breaking established lease agreements by the UK

When you have some major event like the Arab oil embargo, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, or the Iran war, it certainly does impact gas and oil prices. Those, however, are much less common than wind droughts or storms that reduce of eliminate weather-dependent sources of electricity like wind and solar.

Wind Power lowers the overall costs of electricity in Germany
Every Megawatt of Electricity produce by Wind is delivered to the Grid at a lower cost

The wind "drought" you reference has resulted in a 5% decrease in wind production over 2025
Fortunately, solar made up the difference

Every Megawatt of electricity produced with Natural Gas is produced at a higher cost
When Natural Gas spikes
The cost of electricity produced goes up

Without the combination of solar and wind
Germany's cost of electricity would be even higher

Believe it,
Don't believe it
Don't care

I am guessing you still think AI is a fad

There is significantly cheaper power on either side of Germany - France (nuclear) or Poland (coal).

Actual Germans I have worked with comprehend that wind and solar have driven up the overall cost of electricity in Germany, even with your climate industrial complex propaganda claims otherwise. Germany's Economics and Energy Minister also comprehends it. I have posted her statement. She understands system costs, Intermittency gets expensive when you have to spend money to compensate for it, or to import electricity from nuclear or coal fired neighbors to make up for it.

Wind droughts vary year by year. Some are worse than others, but they happen.

and also someone who thinks 'windmills cause cancer" ;)

...
Well, at least this silly post of yours is NOT one of those you have repetitively posted fifteen or twenty time, as per your usual. You have finally found some new material.

And while the World Health Organization has found that operation of wind turbines cause a variety of human health problems, as previously noted in this thread, I do not recall cancer being among them.

Polish Coal Mine pollutes and destroys ground water of an adjoining country

Poland has the greatest air pollution in EU

From the report:

“We are still one of the most polluted (by smog) countries in Europe,” he said, pointing out that “50,000 people die prematurely every year due to poor air quality in Poland.”

Spoke to a rancher in North Dakota who has lost significant rental money because of wind farm cancellation
Because of low rains and high cost of feed
He has cut back on his herd size
2 years ago, he contracted to lease land for a wind farm project
He sees no chance the wind farm will move forward at this point because of federal review
Meanwhile, there is a massive wind farm 10 miles away
North Dakota has really low electrical rates
35% of states electricity comes from Wind Power
No wind droughts in North Dakota

15 Polish Coal Miners Die in Coal Mine Accidents in 2025

This report covers the last 2 deaths for 2025

European coal mines have a lot less safety issues and much much higher standards, Poland included, and a lot better safety record than the Chinese owned mines that supply the climate industrial complex wind turbines and solar panels..

We are talking about Poland
Not China
Don't try to change the subject about EU pollution
Germany and England are your focus points
You are the one recommending Germany import cheap energy from Poland

Yeah, but many farmers oppose solar / wind in their areas:

Well, NO, we are talking about impact for fuel and materials for competing energy sources. The harm from those materials and fuels is much greater from solar / wind than from coal / gas / nuclear.

Nice attempt at deflection.

You never want to take any responsability for your recommendations
You suggested Germany import Polish Energy
There is zero evidence of China production injuring anyone outside of China
But there is plenty of evidence of Polish Coal Mining and energy production killing EU citizens
Man Up
Take some responsibility for your viewpoints
