II 2025 update - all bad news

This could be good news. Koolina flexchange availability got ruined by an idiot that decided to take it to Facebook.

If they go to 30 days, but reopen the inventory to everyone this would be great. The abusers trashed a good thing.

Don't worry OL studios haven't been able to get 2-bed HI penthouses for a couple of years. Still people try and sell them for money!!!!

It might take WWIII, but I will return to a 3 bedroom PH with my OL studio. Perhaps the greatest feat in TUG history.

I am aware of the Facebook group but not sure how it was ruined. Could you explain more about this?

It’s a free world. But once someone starts selling seminars on arbitrage, the arbitrage is going to disappear.

What is the backstory to this issue?

I am also confused about how inventory isn’t open to everyone in Flexchange? What is it about “reopen the inventory to everyone”

I know about the paid seminars and Travel Club course. But I am questioning how inventory got shut off to some people.

Maybe I have the wrong take on this. But I highly suspect that last minute dumps stopped going to flexchange. Maybe it has nothing to do with OL value. Maybe Marriott just front ran the dumps. Thinking out loud here. I have no inside info here. Hardly even follow it anymore.

Does the change from flexchange starting at day 60 to day 30 help people that are super flexible for last minute travel. Just trying to understand if this helps any customer segments?

The Refundable Getaway Rates is nice to see.

I was going to start a thread regarding Cash Rentals from II vs RCI. RCI at least provides a partial refund for cancellation where II gives none including when the resort makes changes that may impact your stay. As a result, I decided never to purchase a II Getaway months in advance since II gave me no options as the resort announced subsequent changes impacting my stay.
I don't see this. what exactly is the new refund policy for getaaways?

There's just a brief statement in the email announcement (see highlighted text in post #15)
**UPDATE**
I found the following wording change in the Buyer's Guide regarding getaway refunds.

Old 2024 Guide:
II’s Exchange Cancellation Policies do not apply to Getaway and Interval Options Confirmations. Any cancellation of a Getaway Confirmation results in the loss of the Getaway resort
accommodations and all fees paid Getaway fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.

New 2025 Guide:
II’s Exchange Cancellation Policies do not apply to Getaway and Interval Options Confirmations Unless noted otherwise during the Getaway confirmation booking process
, Getaway fees will not be refunded upon cancellation. In all cases, cancellation of a Getaway results in the loss of the Getaway resort accommodations.

It might make for some extra inventory inside 30 days it would normally have been gobbled up within the 60 day window.

Flex change has always been more of a marketing term than anything else. Inventory always seems to be very fluid all the time anyway so it’s always hard to Tell if it’s for exchange or something else making the inventory available.

Yeah got it likely hotel pricing schemes with hiked price for refundable rate.

Interval Guest Certificate — As of July 1, 2025, the number of complimentary Guest Certificates included with an Interval Platinum® membership will change to three per membership year. Please note that if you have more than three complimentary Guest Certificates remaining in your Interval Platinum membership, the total will be adjusted to three as of July 1, 2025. In addition, the cost of Guest Certificates will increase to $89

Last-Minute Travel With Flexchange — Interval offers Flexchange® to help you plan last-minute vacations. Members with last-minute travel plans who want to take advantage of Flexchange will need to book their travel within 30 days of the desired check-in date in order to utilize this benefit. This is anticipated to commence in late summer.
Thanks for update . I need to check my II account.

Lastly, as we continue to enhance our Getaways program, you will start to see refundable rates available for certain destinations to allow for flexibility when your travel plans unexpectedly change.
This could be a good thing. But we need much more info about it. How much more will it cost? Only certain destinations. Will the nonrefundable still be available?

We have a few 2026 confirmations that it looks like I need to add GCs to now before this change.

I currently have a deposit that is subject to 60 day exchange window.
It was the result of a cancelled exchange.
Will this now have a 30 day window? (I hope not.)

Inventory has never been open to everyone during flexchange, the trading power requirements were just relaxed a bit.

@Danlop88 There was a major adjustment to trading power for deposit for a number of resorts/brands, if I recall right Feb/Mar 2023 Jan 2024. The brands impacted were Hyatt, Welk, Diamond and a number of independents, some of which we know about, one is a resort on Coco Beach, which had become notorious for being a very good trader. It seems to still trade decently, but not quite as well as it used to and not for the major Hawaii resorts like it used to during Flexchange. Given that the first answer in II's FAQs is on Comparable exchange, its no surprise that resorts that consistently out perform their deposit get clipped. 2 x unit size upgrades, location upgrade and quality rating upgrade is good while it lasted.

Costco. Or many others. Never order from the bank, they're always the most expensive.

Or, don't use checks. It’s an outdated system, and almost every other country got rid of them decades ago.
I just get free checks from Ally - though TBH I think I write one check every few years so I *may* have reordered once in the ~decade I've had the account.

Got it, so someone from Facebook said OL was a good trader and very cheap, many people bought it and started trading. This cause Interval to update their systems accordingly

I don't really get all the flexchange stuff - I've never used II that way, and TBH I'm starting to really think very similarly to RCI, the value I see from II has basically nothing to do with exchanges. I see some value from Getaways. I can see it's not impossible that I may someday be able to use and get value from an AC, but so far no dice(granted term of about a year). I think the Priceline service for hotels may be a savings - at least compared to straight priceline and straight hotel direct sites. This is only relevant as Hilton has been devaluing the Honors program more and more recently, though I'm still getting some value there I'm not that wowed by free waters on check in.
