Ok, call us crazy ... our journey to 1 million HH points via HGV Owner Updates ...

IMO, once there is an agreement, it shouldn’t be cancelled by HGV.

I always hear “6 months between owners updates”, but when I get there, they will say “but that was a different sales office” or “we are running special deals for owners”, “so it’s OK”.

My last deal was perhaps the record, 250K HH points at NYC W57th in November. You’d only need 4 of those, though I think these kind of deals must only be at certain times.

Edit: it was 200K points, not 250K.
I will use your offer (200K) as a starting point! Here's a thread, you did not participate - looking for highest OU offers.

An agent called me to offer owner update event after I booked a timeshare stay. But my offer was to attend a party event and get a $150 giftcard after.
How does one get a HH pts offer? Do you ask before attending the event? or do you have to stay through the timeshare presentation and wait for them to offer it?
Say, "No" to the first offer, or just say... My time is more valuable, I won't do an OU for less than 100K HH. NOW - Reddart - It's 200K HH

IMO, once there is an agreement, it shouldn’t be cancelled by HGV.
Valid Point - I could have showed myself at Tuscany Village and "DEMANDED A MANAGER!"

Looking forward to following this journey. I think for sure I wouldn't make it past the first one even with a stone face no , these presentations are so mind draining. I do like to f--k with the sales people and ask a lot of "intent to buy" quesitons only to show them resale prices on my phone.

I did one in Vegas, Elara actually, during this past summer. I was staying at Trump just to try it out, so I did say yes one day when I had nothing planned, and was waiting for other family and friends to arrive. Was quick in and out. Guy know I wasn't buying, as I told him I just wanted to see a Club floor room. Got 75K for about 30 mins of time.

I am sitting on about 840K HH currently. I still haven't paid my 2 MFs, so adding those in another I expect another 55K in HH points.

I tend to accumulate a lot, then use a bunch all at once. Last big use was 8 days in Maldives. I currently have no plans for them, but I will think of something. LOL

Good luck on your journey. Not sure I would consider this fun and do not think my DH would tolerate.

We've had several NYC presentations but I do not recall 250k points. But we took $350 in Elevated Rewards which do not expire.

We received 150k without negotiation at La Pacifica when we checked in. Perhaps we could have gotten more but we were only there for 2 nites so there was a limited presentation window.

One NYC visit was for presentation dinner and Broadway show. Worth about $800 - $1000 because it was Thanksgiving and nosebleed tickets were selling for $250 each and we had 4 people. It was good value for us at the time.

I'll be at King's Land the end of April, we like to take advantage of gold season lower points. I book the phase 2 BR2 standard units on the first floor for extra points savings.
How much of a points savings is that? 2 bed standard on 1st floor is what I'd be looking at too

It's half of what I own, the 2BX which is phase 1. The BR2 is the lowest point 2 bedroom at KL. BR2 and BP2 are phase 2, the rest are phase 1.

If you get lucky, you might even catch a point discount sale!

Starting at 200k? Why not 500k? Let them know you are serious in trying to suck as much out of them as possible.

Impressive. The most we've ever gotten (and it is at W 57th St) was 150,000. We only spent 10 minutes. Used 95,000 for one night at the Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria where we were upgraded to an amazing $2500 a night suite.

Owners Update 1: January 2025 - we are at Elara right now and received 100k points and a 3 day two night vacation stay at a Hilton. They did offer 110k HH points if we didn't want the two free nights but we could use the two nights in Scottsdale. All if we attended an Owners Update of 60 minute minimum. We just completed the update and have already logged the HH points. Ended up being 90 minutes as I did have some questions on Embarc. Their bad IT once again shows that they have no clue what we own or how we got Elite status with our minimal purchase at Marbrisa a decade+ ago while depositing our many GPR resorts in as HGVC points for Elite. Their offer was, in general, they could upgrade our deeded EOY Marbrisa Studio to Annual and include Max for $10k. No thanks. Salesperson was nice and personable. The closer offered the usual freeze this offer program of 11,627 HGVC promo points(if I remember correctly) for $1,795 less $100 if we paid in full. After we refused he tacked on another 130k HH points if we did the freeze. We said NO ... as this would ruin our plan to get to 1 million HH points. Anyway this closer guy was a &%$@* or as my wife put it "he was condescending, arrogant, aggressive, offensive and generally unpleasant marketing guy who followed an informative, thoughtful and respectful conversation with our salesperson. I don't think we will file a complaint ... it might ruin our plan. Oh well ... I smiled and thanked them all with LOVE .... Next stop Cabo.
I'm updating to include our recent 2024 owner update. So this will be less painful.

Owners Update 0: September 2024. 100,000 points. We went to Owner Update. Salesman very frustrated as there was not much he could do for us. No hard close at the end and no offer of promotional points to freeze our offer. We also took family with us on the same appointment and they also received 100,000 points. So can I count the family 200,000 total points in my overall goal ... not trying to cheat here ha ha.

Good Luck with this! I do like the cut of your Jib. My experience in presentations mirrors yours: sales person reasonable. Closers just have a way of offending me. A##Holes. But I have my ways to get under their skin also. But it just make the entire experience unpleasant. Fair Winds and Following Seas on the path to your goal!

OK. You're crazy. But I like your style. Small side bet: They'll be on to you and cut off the perks looong before you score a million points.
They may already be onto me ;-) Today I spent an hour on the phone getting the run around as I tried to get them to credit the full 100,000 HH points credited to our account. They only put 25,000 in after our tour. That was probably because of that $%^& sales manager ... or just a mistake. Once I got ahold of the tour front desk and asked for a sales manager the desk person was able to get the full amount credited to our HH account. Keep an eye on your accounts folks.

Of course this came out in tugs newsletter and won't help ... but sure I'll take that side bet for a beverage of choice.

Good luck on your journey. Your spouse and you must be wearing some type of hearing devices to be able to listen to those 90 minutes presentations. I just pray you can beat the system,

Owners update is 60 mins. We start a timer. I only go over if I’m really learning something. My dear spouse starts kicking me under the table and starts getting restless at the 60 mins mark. I’ve got bruises on my legs.

Let us know how it goes!!

I took the 11520 points for $1695 last week. Only found out by reading the contract later that it's not real HGVC points, it's VIP points (Vacation Introductory Program), and as explained by fellow tugs members, it had an extremely limited inventory.

What is the setback of saying yes to "purchase price freeze", especially if one doesn't plan to buy anything directly from HGVC?
I'd think a free 130k HH points would be nice. Does it prevent you from attending more owner updates?
I suspect that one cannot get another incentivized owner update if one freezes their offer. Not confirmed … though I’m sure they would let you do an owner update with no incentive.:ROFLMAO:

We found out we weren’t allowed an incentive when we were offered the owner update at Marbrisa last December, as we had already booked the free two night trip for January and added a third night “free” if we took the tour. I remembered when negotiating with the concierge and went and read the fine print. The concierge also confirmed it. This is when we realized we could have gotten at least two nights out of the 100k HH offer vs the one free night we agreed to.

I have not confirmed that if you freeze your offer it prevents one from getting more incentives for owner updates. Perhaps you can read the fine print or ask at your next stay and let us know.

Is there a thread on the VIP program … I tried to search for it but wasn’t successful. Or I can start a new thread solely focused on this program. This is from HGVC La Pacifica Los Cabos, a Hilton Club. February 2025. $1,695 purchase on the spot. They did not offer any additional incentives (130k HH points via Elara sales manager in update #1).

It been quite a few years since we purchased a VIP package. When we did it, the discounted stay was the incentive, so no bonus HH points came with the package.

At least at the time we did it, the trip was limited to 5 nights, so you could not stretch it by getting a smaller room, etc. Basically, HGV would select the room for you. I think you could split the trip into two, but you would have to attend the presentation on the first travel dates.

As far as I know, you can only have one active promo at a time, so if you purchase the VIP, you are not eligible for another presentation package until you complete the VIP presentation.

Last time I bought a VIP package it was at hgv/Diamond. Inventory was very limited. July in Palm Desert. They wanted to put us up at a nearby Homestead rather than the resort. Left half the points unused. I have heard people use them well at less than MFs but I won't buy another one. I did get 3 days in Poipu but the details prevented two stays in the same resort and many other restrictions. Several resorts listed on the sell sheet were permanently blacklisted ie Cabo Azul.
HGVC may be less restrictive but I would have doubts
