We were told that HVC is offering essentially unlimited Owners Updates even if we just went on one the day/week before. So my wife and I came up with the crazy idea that we could leverage this into a million HH points in 2025 alone (100k points x 10 updates). So we have set this as a goal even though we thought we were done with sales presentations ... we have always been good at saying NO and getting out of there. And we try to learn or relearn at least one tidbit each time we go. Yes I know it sounds painful but I think we are going for it. And they keep pushing owner updates practically begging us. Any and all comments welcome as we have thick skin. We are just going to have fun with this ... and always reserve the right to change our minds if it becomes too painful.

Owners Update 1: January 2025 - we are at Elara right now and received 100k points and a 3 day two night vacation stay at a Hilton. They did offer 110k HH points if we didn't want the two free nights but we could use the two nights in Scottsdale. All if we attended an Owners Update of 60 minute minimum. We just completed the update and have already logged the HH points. Ended up being 90 minutes as I did have some questions on Embarc. Their bad IT once again shows that they have no clue what we own or how we got Elite status with our minimal purchase at Marbrisa a decade+ ago while depositing our many GPR resorts in as HGVC points for Elite. Their offer was, in general, they could upgrade our deeded EOY Marbrisa Studio to Annual and include Max for $10k. No thanks. Salesperson was nice and personable. The closer offered the usual freeze this offer program of 11,627 HGVC promo points(if I remember correctly) for $1,795 less $100 if we paid in full. After we refused he tacked on another 130k HH points if we did the freeze. We said NO ... as this would ruin our plan to get to 1 million HH points. Anyway this closer guy was a &%$@* or as my wife put it "he was condescending, arrogant, aggressive, offensive and generally unpleasant marketing guy who followed an informative, thoughtful and respectful conversation with our salesperson. I don't think we will file a complaint ... it might ruin our plan. Oh well ... I smiled and thanked them all with LOVE .... Next stop Cabo.

Cool plan, but i don't have the patience for that approach...

I can appreciate your tenacity. It's how I got over one million AA frequent flyer miles and Platinum status for life. (We really don't fly that much.) But reading this reminded me of our first sales presentation for Marriott Cypress Harbour many, many years ago. I am forever grateful that we were too poor to bite.

Great plan. Have a good time with it. We haven't been to a single Hilton presentation, not even one. We don't stay at many of the Hiltons because of the $25 per night fee they charge to exchangers. I should start watching for bargain exchanges through RCI and do what you are doing because I really do like Hilton hotels. I could use the points.

We do go to Kings'land in June, if Rick can be talked into the trip. Right now, he is a big negative on the Big Island.

OK. You're crazy. But I like your style. Small side bet: They'll be on to you and cut off the perks looong before you score a million points.
Lol, I don't think the ones trying to get you to go care as long as you are max. If you're resale only, they look more closely. The salesperson probably cares, but it's too late by the time you get to them.

I always hear “6 months between owners updates”, but when I get there, they will say “but that was a different sales office” or “we are running special deals for owners”, “so it’s OK”.

My last deal was perhaps the record, 250K HH points at NYC W57th in November. You’d only need 4 of those, though I think these kind of deals must only be at certain times.

Edit: it was 200K points, not 250K.

We have almost 2MM HHonors points. When we used to go to these "updates," we took the cash. We no longer go.

Cheers.

This sounds like something my wife and I would try to do. We earned nearly 300,000 Bonvoy points in 2024 from tour incentives. Though Marriott doles them out in different increments like 25,000 to 40,000 per tour. Go for it and let us know if you reach your goal.

This happened to us during our 3rd update in the same year. They have all of the information from each prior visit, what you were offered, what you were given per location.
I was told I was taking up a lot of people's time.

The thing here is ..... the people getting mad at you are not the same people being paid to book you into your owner's update. One hand does not know what the other is doing. You can tell the people booking you that 'I'm not supposed to go, I've already been ....' ..... they will always say it is ok.

I hope the OP can gets his ten visits. ..... It would be easily be 20 nights depending how / where you use the HH points.

This ^^^

Bravo!

Our record is 130K HH. I think that was at Liberty Place. But 250K points?! Heck, I’d do an update for that!

Yeah, this trip I had in my mind that I may do an update if the offer and timing was good. I almost spit out my soup when they texted me the offer, we were having a late lunch down the street before checking in.

Edit: I just looked at my point history and it was 200K, not 250K, but yeah still really good.

I took the 11520 points for $1695 last week. Only found out by reading the contract later that it's not real HGVC points, it's VIP points (Vacation Introductory Program), and as explained by fellow tugs members, it had an extremely limited inventory.

What is the setback of saying yes to "purchase price freeze", especially if one doesn't plan to buy anything directly from HGVC?
I'd think a free 130k HH points would be nice. Does it prevent you from attending more owner updates?

Side note: when I first saw the title I read it as 1M HGVC points! 🤣🤔🤣
Me too, and I was like, I will call you crazy for paying developer for 1 million HGVC points lol!

IDK why, but I don't like feeling like I'm wasting someones time that way. Also don't like the times offered usually for the presentations. I don't know if 100k HH points would be enough to be worth it. Maybe. 250,000 and I would probably go.

An agent called me to offer owner update event after I booked a timeshare stay. But my offer was to attend a party event and get a $150 giftcard after.
How does one get a HH pts offer? Do you ask before attending the event? or do you have to stay through the timeshare presentation and wait for them to offer it?

I hear you can hold out for a better offer. I think it probably depends on how busy they are and possibly some kind of metric from the sales office. The 200K offer was right off the bat, no haggling involved.

We love the Big Island. We are bringin family in April and plan to stay again at Kohala due to point values.

The Hilton resort complex is interesting and the lagoon area is quite nice turtles, dolphins, etc.

Note: we do prefer now to go off location near by to a nice beach but with kids its nice mix of options and the Manta Ray night dives are magical.

I'll be at King's Land the end of April, we like to take advantage of gold season lower points. I book the phase 2 BR2 standard units on the first floor for extra points savings.

I was offered 120K HH points for an Owner's Update thru Cypress Point - I thought... Are you sure I can attend, I was just at an Owner's Update in December. He counted the days and said, "you're over 30 days, it's okay" - fast forward next day - incoming text, they cancelled your OU because your contract has not been finalized.
