Ok, call us crazy ... our journey to 1 million HH points via HGV Owner Updates ...

Owners Update 2: HGVC La Pacifica Los Cabos, a Hilton Club. February 2025. 150,000 points. We went to Owner Update. Salesman (US expat) very good and knew the product better than most we’ve ever met. Spent over two hours there. My wife wasn’t happy but we got on his computer and did searches with the new Max search engine v the Legacy search engine. Learned more about the program and how to make the Max window 7 months v 6 month using ongoing search. Closer (Mexico) was very nice and professional. Took No for an answer. Moved on to VIP offer at another desk as posted above to freeze our offer. Said no. Collected our points. Will post their offer later.

Nice, professional people. What's going on here? So different from the 20 different threads I've seen about wild mtngs in Mexico
I checked in yesterday. Once again, they can't be bothered to even mention a sales mtng. :)
We've never gone anyplace HGVC outside HI though, so I'm not sure if it is a "HI thing", a "Oahu thing" or an "Us thing"

Great update. We also got 150k initial points offer and did not negotiate at La Pacifica because we were only there 2 nites and knew we only had 1 day for the preso. We also found the sales staff to be professional. We explored buying there because it is bHC 32:1 but did not buy.

Was 150k the first offer? Were you not able to get them to go higher?

We only had three nights. 150k HH or $300 resort credit was first offer. Tried to negotiate higher points. Wife and I discussed and didn’t want to push it and booked early next day. We ended up with two mezcal shot glasses, two tequila shot glasses, and two coffee mugs. It was an interesting and unique HGVC offer which I’ll post later.

You made it in the newsletter, you should be honored. We're all rooting for you. How many points are you at now?
Depends on how you want to score it.

Update 0: 200,000 (100k for us and 100 k for family)

Update 1: 100,000 (first post)

Update 2: 150,000

So far almost halfway there 😳😂 450,000 …. For my bet for beverage of choice that would be up to who I bet with … 250,000 since I posted, 350,000 if it’s ok to go back to September of 2024, 450,000 if we count family. ❤️❤️🤣😂

I love this entire thread! It's like a soap opera with cliff hangers....

Will @JohnnyO make the 1,000,000??
Will HGVC block them?
What drink does he get with the side bet?
Will @JohnnyO get bruised shins from MS JohnnyO kicking him when he keeps asking questions and dragging OU out beyond 1 hour?!

Stay tuned... but when is the next episode?!

Seriously though, this is great reading and I love the ongoing updates. As others mention, we are all rooting for you!

I just got back from W 57th St. I didn't get one call or approached about doing an owners update there. Are the NYC properties different? The marketing staff were swarming in Las Vegas like mosquitos pouncing on victims in an attempt to suck them dry.

They are very low key at W. 57th. They used ti call us in advance, but have stopped. There is also a person at the leftmost desk that will give you your 500 points just for asking, a discount card and will also offer a presentation. But you really have to approach them. We will typically get our 500 points and decline all else.

Cheers.

I think it may depend on when you go, they can sometimes be aggressive in contacting you before your stay, but yes, the guy at the desk there is low key.

We will be having a few short stays coming up in the next few months, so we’ll see if we get any enticing offers.

A few years ago, Chicago was like this as well. We got 500 points for just getting our discount card. We did not go on the tour (we never do), but there was very little pressure to attend. The only place where there was pressure was Elara. We almost bit on the $250 MF gift, but didn't.

@JohnnyO Where will you spend the Honors points?
We have no idea right now. We are over 1.5 million HH now … if our son can get a damn airline job and get us flight benefits then the world is our oyster till we’re too old to travel.

Right now we are preparing our minds to go back to the cold. I could stay in Cabo another month or two. My dear wife wants to get back before the cat freezes and/or starves. The cat only likes me in the middle of the night when I wake for my old person potty break. Otherwise she scrams at the sight or sound of me. I love animals but I really don’t appreciate that cat.

Next episode … I’m not sure.

Ha Ha Agree. I love Cabo and could stay longer but we have 2 cats and a dog.

Points are nice. We visited Portugal last year and between FNCs (Hilton, IHG credit cards) and hotel points we were able to stay free for a week of the trip in nice Hiltons and Intercontinental in Lisbon. The other week we stayed at an RCI traded timeshare which had no resort fees. Now if only we find a way to lower airfare...

You should apply for an airline. :) Alaska hired a 75 year old to be a flight attendant last year.

My daughter started at Alaska last year and we have been making heavy use of the benefits. Can't wait until Alaska starts flying from SeaTac to Narita in May.

Never said I wanted to work. I wanted the benefits from my son working. 🤣😂

A long time ago, I worked for a major airline based in Chicago. This was before kids and before 9/11. Just me and Ms.

We would pack bags, walk up and down the terminal till we found a destination that sounded interesting. If there were seats, we’d hop on and go.

It was pretty amazing. Hotel discounts too!

How would you pack? Or would you just pick another similar city? If the Orlando flight was full you would just fly into Tampa?

That got us a couple times, but in Chicago winter.... we'd pack for something south, and would hit San Diego, Austin, Tampa, Phoenix if we were staying US. If we were thinking further afield, we'd just have layers and go for it > once we thought we were going to Europe (Munich) and ended up in Rio cause the flights were perfectly aligned and plenty of space. I think Biz class was about $30/person. We had a bit too many clothes on that trip, but did have swimsuits!....

There were times we'd go to nearby cities. We wanted to check out Chattanooga. That flight was full, but flew into Knoxville and drove down.

Our motto was: get on a plane going somewhere, doesn't really matter where, just get on and go. Fun times :)

Staying at W57th tonight, the desk salesperson was nice, and didn’t even ask for us to do a presentation, but that might be because we’re only here for one night.

Also got 1000HH points for chatting, not 500.
