Hilton Grand Vacation - Legit resale websites (looking to buy)

Hello,

We have a HGV property. We upgraded into HGV Max last April. We looked into getting ourselves up to the 23,000 tier yesterday. And, of course, it was crazy expensive.

Can we buy 23,000 points via a resale website? What is the best website(s)? Do we qualify for the Hilton perks for hitting that 23,000 tier still? If we purchase a property via resale, does that automatically become part of our HGV account? There always appears to be much more affordable deals out there, but I am always afraid to look into buying something like that. I always fell like buying through Hilton themselves is the only way to do it and still qualify for everything.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about getting up to the next tier. The benefits really aren't worth all that much. The salespeople talk them up but I don't see the benefit to them. We bought from legacytimeshares. The process went very smoothly. We were able to get a 11,200 point contract at Elara for $4,150.

I do agree for the most part. We did like the additional guest certificates as we wouldn't always be using our points. We also liked being able to book a month before others...I have spent a lot of time trying to get reservations at some locations...not sure if it would be easier or not for sure. And, the $350 credit for last minute reservations would work for us...we tend to like to jump to Las Vegas once a year...it is pretty easy to get a last minute reservation.

But, the bigger thing is the website...I will use this as my list of places to check out.

Thank you for the feedback.

I don't see that website using legacytimeshares.com

The question really is, do points from resale deeds count toward status when someone is in HGV Max?

So...HGV now owns a number of different timeshare systems. Did you buy HGVC? HVC (ex-Diamond)? Embarc? BlueGreen?

Since you are now HGV Max buying resale won't help your HGV Max status. If you had remained HGVC Legacy Elite you could have bought in Scotland to upgrade your Elite status.

We did HGVC 4 years ago. Upgraded to HGV Max last April....very minimal points though. We use the points very well...haven't had to convert them yet because we couldn't use them. Our boys are getting bigger though and we will need more points to get more spacious rooms. We kind of want to get to good spot so that we don't have to get more points for a long time...but also want the benefits.

So buying direct is the only way to upgrade your HGV Max status. I can't imagine that the benefits of buying HGVC direct will outweigh the cost benefits of buying deeds resale...but that decision is up to you.

I think it is a downgrade.
Only if you have Legacy Elite status. Otherwise it's free reservations and the ability to exchange into resorts at which you would never want to stay long after they've been booked by actual owners.

Yes, forgot about the free reservations. I have taken advantage of that.

Has anyone used hgvcresales.com?
Here is a previous thread about them. They may be okay as a buyer but due to how their business model operates, there can be a lot of (most?) listings with very high and unrealistic asking prices. This means there is a good chance you can overpay for a deed through them.

You may also want to check some brokers that handle a lot of HGVC resales;

I purchased from Syed, it was advertised on TUG Marketplace. Highly recommended.

I'm not an expert but after the salesperson spent 45 minutes at an owners update talking about the benefits higher status levels you could get from buying more points... The closer came over and finally figured out I had bought a resale contract and told the salesperson I couldn't get to a higher status level by buying more points because my resale contract didn't count.

They use legacytimeshares on E*Bay. They also do business as The Vacation Warehouse. Clem Swan. If you search these boards you will find some mixed reviews. However RickandCindy23, an active poster here, said they had good experiences. I did as well.

I think you just have to learn which posters here are whiners and which have solid information. I trust RickandCindy23 and Dioxide45. They both have excellent advice.

I still do not understand why anyone would buy into MAX. Plus MAX does not resell. If you are DRI and want access to HGVC find a resell week. Perhaps a 2 bedroom Platinum at Elara. If you HGVC and want access to DRI decide which Collection you want to be a part of and buy (many times free or almost free) Points or Deed (if you can find one) in that Collection.

I’ve used Judi Kolowski’s team, they were very professional. RE: Max. I have been offered it many times, i even got the resort list so it was an informed decision. The resorts are all old, I have traded into them with RCI for the last 25 years. I cannot see why you would buy it for 7K. You get free RCI membership with HGVC so you would have access. Yes there are more fees that’s the down side.

It doesn't sound like we would get the benefits if we purchased a resale property...which I think is OK. The only question that I don't think was fully answered...if we buy a resale property, does that property get added to our current HGV account? Do those points get added to the total in our dashboard? So, I have my original property and a new resale property. Would I see the full 15,000 points for example? I presume yes since I am transferring an HGV property to me when I purchase it.

I appreciate all those that have responded.

Yes as long as it's titled the same way. They are a handful of affiliates that will have a different log in. I have two different HGV accounts and when my points post to my Seapointe account, I just call and ask them to shuffle them over to my other account so they are all in the same bucket.

*Re whiners... Some have had suboptimal experiences & have shared... which is a good thing, so buyer beware...
One only needs to visit some dedicated FB groups to see some agents being worshipped (folks being funneled to them)....
Glad TUG is not like that..

Nice to see @rickandcindy23 & @dioxide45 being given well deserved credits :)!

HGVC does not allow rental of points. Only Home Weeks can be rented. Guest certificates are free for Home Weeks anyway. Guest certificates on non Home Weeks reservations are only to give stays to friends and family for free. HGVC does enforce this.
