Marriott hotel stay with titanium benefit

Had a great free hot buffet breakfast at the Miami Airport Marriott with Titanium. Lesser Elites would have paid a good bit for the breakfast, but it was very nice (not a Springhill or whatever hot breakfast, much much nicer). They also had a lounge which was ok. So, you do get something at some US hotels.

We've stayed at the Renaissance Inner Harbor Baltimore a few times over the past couple of years for events downtown. Titanium benefit on the weekends is the "continental" breakfast at the restaurant, but it includes everything besides the cooked to order stuff (so you get pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, plus all the normal continental stuff). During the week they have a really nice lounge for breakfast.

My usual haunt for work travel (Marriott Windsor CT) has a nice M Club with hot breakfast. Both the JW and Marriott resorts in Cancun have given us fee hot buffet breakfast for two, which I've talked my way into three.

It seems the nice the hotel, the less likely you're getting benefits in the U.S.

Set your expectations low. You will not get breakfast as Gold. If you do, count yourself as fortunate and be grateful. Status is based upon name on the reservation.

I fully agree. I never get upgraded. Lounge is closed. Breakfast begins after I returned the car at the airport already. Even the phone app hasn't (for me anyway) opened the door yet. Be grateful for that bottle of water. That may be all you get.

Stayed at Gaylord Opryland Hotel this week. Requested a Suite upgrade and was assigned a huge junior suite overlooking Delta Island and the fountains.

Got a great upgrade to a suite at the Orlando World Center Marriott yesterday. Didn't even have to burn a Suite Night Award. Received continental breakfast but able to upgrade to full breakfast for $10pp extra. The place was pretty busy this morning.

We've had four more recent stays at Marriott and JW Marriott branded hotels and resorts. Three JW Marriott (JW Marriott Desert Springs, JW Marriott Desert Ridge and JW Marriott Camelback Inn) and one Marriott (Seattle Waterfront), all four properties offered continental breakfast. All of the JW Marriott properties offered an upgrade to full buffet for $10 (Camelback was $8 upgrade). The Marriott in Seattle offers a set menu of items available as part of the free breakfast benefit. The selection is way beyond "continental". Our room upgrade success has also been pretty good. We got an upgrade to a 1BR suite at Camelback for two nights and an SNA upgrade to a corner unit at the Seattle Waterfront.

We recently stayed at the Westin Grand Cayman and received 2 daily vouchers for their breakfast buffet. Normal price was about $50 per person. Staying 9 days meant a $900 value. Huge benefit!!!

This is timeshare math. I would never spend $50pp for breakfast. Well, not never, but not every day of my vacation. Our vouchers at the Seattle Marriott cover an entree that costs about $22pp. If we didn't have the vouchers, we would have instead bought some powdered Hostess donuts at Target. $3.50 value.

You can only get it from accumulating nights, be it from stays or credit card. You can’t select the choice benefit from status alone.

Lifetime platinum gets many of the same benefits, stayed at the Marriott Seattle Waterfront, got the breakfast buffet. In Barcelona, got a wonderful daily full breakfast at the Cotton House Hotel (28 euros pp daily) included, plus a room upgrade without using the suite request. Probably correct that I wouldn't spend 28 euros per person on breakfast, however to have a lovely varied breakfast in a beautiful restaurant to go to every morning prior to starting my day, that was pretty fabulous.

We are lifetime Platinum, but regular earned platinum works too. The only tangible benefit for us with Titanium is the additional free night certificate. It certainly is nice to get the free breakfast instead of having to deal with finding something each day or eating minimally until lunch or dinner. We have also found the lounge at the Seattle Waterfront Marriott to be pretty good. All the soda you can drink and some prepackaged snacks. Though their afternoon hors d'oeuvres are pretty good. Those substituted for dinner one afternoon.

Really the only reason for this stay is that my sweetheart had an 85K "free night" certificate in her account from her AmEx Bonvoy Brilliant card. We just couldn't let that cert go to waste. She has Titanium status.

We were given $40 credit to apply to breakfast.

Breakfast came to $62 (before tip). We each had an egg dish and coffee. So that will net to $22 + gratuity. Add $49 for parking and $35 for the "destination fee." So we'll be over $100 for our "free" night.

Had we been home, breakfast would have likely been one yogurt for each of us + coffee for both + 2 slices of toast. I often go wild and splurge - I like a piece of cheese on my toast.

If you believe the Marriott website, a basic room at this hotel is nearly $700 + tax. Add the parking fee and resort fee to that. Now, c'mon man.... Something is a little out of control with hotel prices.

At least we had a relaxing day. Ate lunch at a decent fish place and walked along the beach. And no, we were not upgraded to a suite, even though we did politely ask.

We've had several +$100 "free hotel stays due to all of these same reasons.

We hated that property. We did a 5-night stay there and ended up only having breakfast for the first morning because it was bad expensive food. Like you, after the credit, we still had to top up more money for bad food, plus the expensive daily resort fee for services like "bicycle" and shuttle rides which we had no interest.

I have stayed at Grand Cayman on points and got upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. That breakfast is pretty worth it. Don’t need lunch after that. Plus restaurants elsewhere on the island are not that much cheaper anyway for the same stuff.

It was a full breakfast buffet with omelets and waffles made to order. Definitely didn’t eat much lunch after that. Agree that it’s pricey, wouldn’t eat it daily without vouchers from titanium elite.

I mostly eat cereal at home for breakfast, but really like having a full hot breakfast when traveling. We are just leaving Hawaii today, at the Sheraton Waikiki, they gave me a card good for a free continental breakfast. There printed menu actually listed the cost for Bonvoy Elites to upgrade each entree. Basically $15 off the standard cost. That took the cost down to arround $15 per item. I went ahead an upgraded, as i didn't feel like leaving the hotel, plus if I walked to Denny's i would have a view of a Denny's instead of the ocean...

Some places are better than others, but definitely agree with variety. This trip we were in a timeshare at HHV for a week, and fixed breakfast in our room most days. Only moved to the Sheraton for two nights due to a airline schedule change

It’s probably true that few people would spend $50pp for breakfast everyday, making the $900 a very generous measure of the value of the Bonvoy breakfast benefit. On the other hand, I find comparing the value of a full hot breakfast to hostess donuts from Target to be an equally unfair comparison, since a full breakfast beats the donuts as a quality breakfast. So while the benefit may not really be saving someone $900 out of pocket, being able to get a full breakfast has considerable value vs the donuts.

Try 4 or 5 days in a row at your typical Fairfield Inn. Now that is a challenge, and it’s “free”!
