Are Marriott properties no longer a part of Interval ?

We've kept one of our Marriott properties strictly for an interval trader. However, today we were informed that beginning in 2024, Marriott, Westin, and Sheraton properties would no longer be included in Interval, so there would be no more Marriott to Marriott trades. We were shown a 2024 Interval directory and there were no Abound properties. Has anyone else been notified of this change?

Hmmm. Who told you this? We do the same thing--keep one property to use via II to trade for other Marriott properties. How were you able to see the 2024 directory?

Salespeople have been saying that for a while to scare people into buying points. It is highly unlikely that Marriott, Westin and Sheraton properties would not be included in II. There are many owners who are not participating in the Abound points program, so they would still be using II for trades. There are also owners like us who are in the points program but also make trades through II.

Best .

Mike

Let me guess, someone trying lying to get you to buy points?

I asked how this could happen, but was told it was because owners couldn't always access properties with their points, so Marriott was taking these steps to make it easier for Marriott point owners to get access.

See my other response. When you use MVC DC/Abound points to trade in II, you cannot trade back into Marriott properties. There is a version of II book for Abound points trading that does not have Marriott properties. That's what lying salespeople like to use to provide proof that you cannot use II to trade into Marriott properties anymore.

If you use MVC points/Abound points, you cannot trade back into Marriott properties, hence that II book won't show Marriott properties. Another blatant lie.
I'm confused by your response. We use both points and weeks to go to other properties and Marriott properties have always been included in the Interval book.

There are 2 versions of II physical books. The regular one has all the properties. There is another one that excludes Marriott properties. With Abound points, you cannot trade back into Marriott properties. I have both books, although I have not received one lately. You can only trade back to Marriott properties with a Marriott or other weeks.

In our 13 years of points/weeks, we have never used points in Interval, just weeks. And we've always just received one Interval book per year with everything included.

Funny, went to a sales meeting today where they only sold weeks and they said I could trade my week in Interval. No mention of that not happening in 2024.

That’s good to know. Hyatt works the same way in II.

Let me guess, for a few thousand dollars you could gain access to Abound points and this will “fix” your dilemma.
Does that sound about right? When it ends with you spending money, you can bet your bottom dollar it’s a lie.

It’s simply a lie with a little misdirection tossed in. By the time you figure out you’ve been had, they have your money, someone has the commission in their pocket and you’re left holding the bag.

Want to mess with their heads? Tell them that’s not how the program was sold originally. If they lied to me then, what’s to say this won’t change the rules again and your story will be a lie tomorrow? I don’t do business with companies that don’t hold up their end of the bargain, change the rules after I’ve paid or keep their promises without me spending thousands more.

Hence if you have tried to use MVC points to trade in II, you could NEVER trade into a Marriott. It is written into the T&Cs of MVC DC system. The idea is that you use DC points to book Marriott using their DC exchange. If you want non-Marriottt, then you deposit those points into II. Hence MVC weeks are better than DC/Trust/Abound points because they provide better flexibility.

:D You must have went to an owner update today? I don't think Interval International has published a paper directory in years and anything you might see in a presentation where they are trying to sell you their fancy new product is very suspect.

A Marriott finance manager. Normally, I would ignore any claims, however, we saw next year's Interval book and it didn't include Abound properties.
Never trust salespeople

MVC use II as the internal weeks exchange platform, which is why you get a priority view period for exchanging into other MVC properties. They aren't going to ditch that anytime soon.
The other lie is that MVC will starve II of inventory due to all the weeks going into Abound instead. Another lie that has been told since 2010. There may be a slow erosion, that could be balanced by the number of resale MVC weeks using II instead of Abound. If there is any reduction it is happening so slowly that I expect II to continue to be great to use for another 20 years or so.

Were the sales person lips moving ?

If what people are claiming is correct (sales person intentionally showing the wrong book in order to deceive) that isn't lying, that is flat out fraudulent inducement and criminal fraud.

This is different than a salesman saying that in the future it will be harder to trade. This was not a slight shading of the truth, but an outright fraud. I would send an email to Marriott Vacation corporate and also the GM of the property you were at. Be very concise and unemotional. Just the fact, went to session, agent said Marriott had removed all properties from II and then he showed you a book with no properties to “prove” what he said. You have since learned of his deception and the you are very concerned with this behavior that crossed the line from unethical to fraud. And then ask for them to follow up with what they intend to do to prevent this behavior in the future.
