Oceana Palms pool resurfacing

Everything right now is closed. No Marketplace, no restaurant or bar. ….Staff is very limited.

Are Johnny Long boat, 2 Drunk Goats or the Sports bar open at the mall?

Resorts of course at low occupancy, but how many locals are out and about?

Johnny Long Boat, Two Drunken Goats and Mulligans are up and operating at 25% to 50% of occupancy rules. Personally I would not go to any establishment anywhere unless the wait staff are wearing masks.

Locals are out and about, and currently gas seems to be priced in the $1.89 to $1.99 range.

The only downer is that even though it isn't crowded, the rain has come in and it will likely rain all week...

Looks like after today may not be so bad.

Just curious if they're indicating when they might be opening the restaurant/bar area. My thought is that they're not opening right now because there is no one to serve and it'll allow them to keep those staff members furloughed and on the UE rolls vs. sitting around not doing anything.

We're driving down June 25th to stay there and are hoping there are some on-site services but will be ready to do what we're doing here (which is basically take-out and cook-in).
My understanding is that they are going to start bringing staff back on June 1st. I think the date goes back to when Marriott pulled all of their inventory from Marriott.com, stopped taking cash reservations and had all getaways and exchanges pulled from II. I think their initial date was no new reservations through May 23rd and then that was later extended to June 1st. So a few people were able to get reservations in here for this week before they extended the dates. We booked through an II Accommodations Certificate for about $260. Given how late it is now, I will see what we can find out about the staff coming back to work and things reopening after the 1st.

Hope so, but we got here to learn of a big tropical wave making its way onshore. Yesterday it didn't start raining until around noon. Today it is raining from the get go. Flood warnings in south Florida till tomorrow morning. This isn't the normal Florida popup afternoon thunderstorm. The forecast doesn't look good. We leave on Saturday.

Yes, they are open. Though we haven't been over there yet. We have been cooking in the unit so far since getting out in the current weather really isn't great (though we ordered pizza last night for carryout).

There are plenty of locals out and about. I went to Publix across the bridge on Saturday and it was a mix of locals and tourists. I stopped at the Publix in Palm Beach Gardens last night for something I couldn't find at the one on Blue Heron and plenty of locals there too. Aldi for grocreries on the drive in was packed. The beaches are pretty empty (mainly weather), but there weren't many people even out on it when we checked in, though it was already late.

I am finding mask wearing to be more prevalent down here when people are out. Perhaps about 50-60 of the people are wearing masks where up in Jacksonville it is only about 25%.

I've found long term weather predictions in that area can change quickly. We've been there when it was supposed to rain every day and it ended up being mostly sunny (also had the opposite). Mornings tend to be sunnier and less windy than afternoons. Weather has been weird all spring in the Eastern part of the country. We had a very cold spring and very wet May. It now looks like Ireland with all of the green grass, but the yard is so swamped that it is difficult to mow.

Enjoy your trip, Our favorite restaurants are Captain Charlie's Reef Grill and Juno Beach Fish House. Both can get crowded but I'd expect them to do a good job with carryout.

The fences went up around the pool today and there was jackhammering this morning and I see where they have busted out some of the edge pieces. The pool is not drained and there are chunks of tile and concrete at the bottom of the pool. They started work on the pool with the zero entry end. The pool with the lap lanes is still open.

I will try to get a video up of the pool work if I can get some footage this week with decent weather. I tried to get some video yesterday of the construction at the new buildings going up on the land adjacent to the south, but the wind was so bad you couldn't make out anything I was saying. That was with a dead cat on my microphone.

Update on weather. It was great this morning then turned to rain this afternoon and the rest of the day is a washout. Cooking dinner in the unit again tonight. We could still go out of course, but we planned on some meals in and this is better than heading out in thunderstorms.

Not sure how close they are to completion. The main structures are there, but there is still a lot of cosmtic work to do on the outside and I am sure plenty on the inside.

It sounds like there hasn't been much progress in the last year.

Thanks for the info..has the Amrit construction impacted your stay so far?..We will be vacationing at a Oceana Palms late October, first week of November and hopefully most construction on the outside of the building will be completed by then...inside work I’m not too concerned about

It doesn't appear that they are doing any work at the moment. I don't see how they plan to open in August.

Did you end up getting any footage of the pool?

Yes, I also got a little more today. They were really hammering away with the tools this afternoon. So I need to rework my video a little to show that. I will likely put this one out tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the video of the Pool Refurb I put together. Another video will be out tomorrow about the construction next door at Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences next door;

Here's to hoping the occupancy doesn't pick up in the next couple weeks.

The hot tubs/spas opened today.

Hopefully food/drink service isn't far behind provided the plan is still to bring staff back on the 1st.

What ended up happening with the beach chairs? Were you able to get them yourself?

We didn't use the beach chairs, but the beach chairs were available and there was a resort employee out there to help with chairs and had a bunch setup each morning.

I spoke with an employee and he was indicating that food & beverage staff is returning on June 1st. I would think it will take them a few days to get everything back up and running. He wasn't sure about activities staff.

Thanks for posting this, Jeremy. We're still trying to trade over to Ocean Pointe later in June but no dice so far.

What time in June are you looking at? We scored a trade in to Ocean Pointe for the week of the 14th. You need to be persistent. We initially traded in to a 1BR, but re-traded the next day for a 2BR. Check multiple times a day. Are you using a Marriott week to trade?

Yes our original week was a gold Grande Vista 2BR. This year has been an adventure for sure as I've used up the e-plus trades LOL.

Checking in at Oceana Palms on the 25th, then off to Grande Vista on the 2nd.

I have Oceana Palms on the 13th, Lakeshore on the 20th, and Ocean Pointe on the 27th. Ocean Pointe is the only trade. It was originally a deposited Lakeshore week from last year. We traded to Harbour Lake, then used e plus to get to Ocean Pointe this morning. Got a 2 bedroom OF.

Where are you spending your 14 day quarantine?
