Yet another issue with Sicily Trip

Possibly no one answered today because they were caught up in the Microsoft/Crowd Strike sh*t show, and the phone lines were slammed.
No. I called yesterday.

No. The 516 number has no live person.

I did not see that 800 number anywhere on the website. That’s what I couldn’t understand. Not even in their confirmation emails or the app.

Where on the website did you find it? And why are they hiding it? Seems weird to me.
I had to really dig to find it. I don't remember exactly where it was.

Where did you get the 516 number? Everyone here posted the 800 number for you.

Here is the link with the 516#:

When contacting us via telephone, you can reach us at +1 (516) 738-4422, please be sure to include the following information:

I know. I already addressed this. This is not a call you make to speak to someone to rebook a flight while you’re at the airport. That’s my point.

The 516 number is in the website buried somewhere. It’s a Long island, NY area code.

I’m going to call that 800 number and see what happens. But it weird they would not put that number where people can see it on their website. I don’t see it anywhere.

I flew American in April. I had to call them prior and had no problem finding a phone number. It was in their email and website.

I’m talking the 800#. I know the 516 is.

More. No phone. Just chats. No phone number mentioned anywhere.

Has anyone here actually flown on Lufthansa? I was reading reviews on Trip Advisor and elsewhere and all I can say is it isn't pretty and that's a huge understatement!

Not much better for a few other airlines I checked. But their's seems to be the worst. I'm getting a sick feeling. If you have nothing better to do check it out. My worst nightmares on there and I can totally see that those things are common. Literally not one good review. No customer service. Delays, cancellations, lost luggage, old planes, horrible food, on steroids!

It's interesting because my neighbor- who gave me the luggage- went to Italy a year ago and loved it. She went with her daughter and boyfriend who handled everything. But it stuck with me when she said last year that coming home was a nightmare and she couldn't even talk about it it was so convoluted and bad. She said she tries not to think about it it was so bad and she wants to remember how lovely Italy was.I don't know what airline they flew on.I'll have to ask her. But she did not go to Sicily, just the mainland.

We flew Lufthansa from Athens to Frankfurt.
It was fine. Nice snacks. Good wine (free).
... But then, that was 10 years ago, so...

I've learned to take TripAdviser negative reviews with a grain of salt. I think people who have an ok or decent trip on an airline don't bother to post but when the experience goes bad they are quick to share that story. So it gets a bit skewed to the horror stories.

Yeah - Christmas 2022 people were off the rails angry at Southwest b/c of their giant breakdown. But yesterday they were the heroes b/c they managed to not be affected by the tech issues which stopped other airlines.

I flew Lufthansa and Condor (Lufthansa's budget brand) on several connecting flights in Europe in May and also last year. No worse no better than the other airlines. Would fly again if the price is competitive. You will be fine.

Has anyone here actually flown on Lufthansa?

About five years ago I flew Lufthansa in business from Istanbul to Los Angeles with an overnight in Frankfurt (where I stayed at the airport Sheraton, connected to the terminal - I’ve stayed there and other airport hotels in Europe multiple times as it’s quite convenient). The flights and service were excellent. However, there was an issue with damage to my suitcase upon arrival and even though they admitted responsibility it was singularly impossible for them to find a way to send me the funds since they required European bank info…and I just gave up since it wasn’t worth my time to worry about.

In any case, as to your main concern, I had a phone number which worked fine back then, but that may have been for the baggage department…and IIRC most of my communications with them was via email. I have no idea how they operate customer service now, though. I would absolutely have no hesitation in flying them again.

I have flown Lufthansa a few times, with the latest being to Italy in September and they were great. Online reviews tend to be only those who have issues, and even then, I would say 90% of those are self-inflicted. I would feel very comfortable flying Lufthansa again.

I just flew Lufthansa to/from Poland in Feb, through Munich. I love the Munich airport—light, airy, beautiful views of the Alps. The trip went very well in both directions. I would take Lufthansa over any American-flagged carrier almost any day.

Our son flew on Lufthansa from Barcelona to San Diego last December. He had great flights.

The 516 number is on Lufthansa's website at the URL posted in Lynne's comment that YOU replied to. I don't know why you keep posting about scam numbers, this isn't one.

If one actually reads the webpage where it is posted (instead of just seeing a phone number and dialing it), it is a customer relations number, not their customer service number.

I didn’t say it was scam. I said the 516 number does not reach a live person, that’s all.

There is an 800 # for Lufthansa, but it’s not anywhere on their website that I could find so I was just saying i heard stories about scam numbers on the internet for airlines.

And I posted the screenshot from Lufthansa’s website which addresses this issue.

Yes, Nassau County.
My cell is 516 as it used to be Suffolk as well.

Enjoy your trip Mary Ann, Italy/Sicily is beautiful. We are visiting Palermo on a cruise this fall.

I think that Lufthansa has recently (since my trip in Feb) changed its contact situation, which is....unfortunate. I think you will be okay in Munich. They do have "sleep pods" and day spas and nice cafes where you can while away some hours. Not nearly as hectic as the Frankfort airport (for example.)

I called the 800 number the other day at 9 am and my que was #24! Can you imagine being in the airport with an issue and waiting like that?

Anyway, what do you do with your luggage if you’re using a pod? This is my thing: 6 hours to kill. 2 carryons and 2 small back paks, neck pillows, water bottles. I really don’t want to leave the terminal, but might have to. Plus I’m supposed to be a wheelchair customer. Don’t know how that will work with this layover.

I know we will need to eat since if all goes as planned we won’t get to the hotel in Taromina until after 7pm. That will take up some time at least.

This is why I recommend the app. You don't have to call, you can make changes via the app when you are at the airport.

I have the Lufthansa app and found their customer service phone number in the app

833-240-1426

As others have stated, I wouldn't be making a phone call if I had an issue. I'd be using the app.
