Yet another issue with Sicily Trip

I am glad to hear you are proceeding with your trip. I am sure you have a great time, and come back with good memories!

This and the other thread are painful to read.

I’m not sure what is going on with your flight itinerary but if you have a long layover in Munich and a hotel is available in the airport, that’s a great option. When I flew home from Frankfurt, I stayed overnight in the airport the night prior to an early departure at a Hyatt Place. It was awesomely low stress.
Great comment. We've done this several times in Frankfurt. I usually book an overnight when we land in Europe to catch up on sleep and avoid missing international connections. However I have been on a plane overnight for 12 hours or more so this may not be as relevant from the east coast.

Frankfurt has a some Hiltons and Sheratons inside the walkable airport mall which also connects to the train station. Can grab a German bier in the mall biergarten to get a taste of Germany. :)

Munich may have the same.

@WinniWoman Your layover could possibly be a blessing in disguise because you would be very upset if you missed your connection and were late for your long awaited trip. As I have gotten older I also like to plan my trips because I don't want to waste time or create stress during the trip figuring out where to stay. You are doing the right thing to maximize enjoyment and relaxation.

Enjoy the journey!

@WinniWoman have a great trip! And you can say you did it your way. :D
Thanks. Well the flights aren't "my way". My way is nonstop to my destination. LOL! But hopefully it will work out. My credit card was charged today so no turning back now!

BTW. I always have thought we should have the phone number of the airlines handy in case a flight is cancelled or delayed or whatever instead of having to go to the desk at the gate.

But I cannot not find a phone number for Lufthansa anywhere. Am I missing something? It seems this is the way of the world these days. No one to call. Businesses don't want anyone to call them.

We have been doing a lot of business with the airlines on their app. You can usually make changes there easily. Or, if you have status with an airline most of the time they will make the change for you in case of delays or cancellations. One time when Southwest Airlines had a major problem if we wanted to talk to them on the phone it would have been something like a 3 hour wait.

But here is phone number for Lufthansa. I found it by googling.

How to reach Lufthansa by phone?

Concur. And you don't have to monitor any boards, screens etc. It's all in the app.

I have experience with flight information (gate change, delays) appear in the app sooner than they make it to the large airport flight information screens.

I've also found that since I am set up for email and text alerts I get info quicker that way.

And you can follow your bags … which is fun in a weird way if you are really bored.
This is actually very helpful (although sometimes not updated quickly). I found out on a recent trip to NYC that my bags got on an earlier flight when we connected and were already at EWR. If I hadn't had that info I would have been waiting and waiting for a bag that never made it off the carousel. Actually this has happened on several recent trips. We've chosen a longer layover, but our bags have made it on an earlier flight.

Is this real? It’s not on their website. Don’t you think that’s odd?

I have read there are scammers out there posing as airlines for when people call re rebooking flights, etc.

They go on the internet to avoid lines and find a number. Call it and well- they are scammed..,

I know. I’m talking rescheduling a cancelled or miss flight type of thing.

Why did I just buy an AirTag then?
You are smart to do that. It will give you precise location of you need to find that bag (remember pictures last Christmas of HUNDREDS or thousands of bags piled up in baggage claims during the SW debacle?). Or it will help you prove that your bag is somewhere else if it gets stolen.

The app isn't going to give you that level of control and precision.

It's a good purchase. I use my AirTags all the time for different things.

That phone number is not a voice number. You get a recording saying there’s no one to talk to! I called it this morning.
How odd. Several of us found that number. I found a number on their website (after much digging) for internet support, but I don't think that is what you are looking for.

And finally found on the Lufthansa website:
Contact Details+1 800 - 645 38 80
24 hours daily
Text telephone for customers with hearing impairments: First dial 711 and then 800 645 3880 for relaying to the TRS (within the US only).

And this is the number you called and got no one to answer.

No. The 516 number has no live person.

I did not see that 800 number anywhere on the website. That’s what I couldn’t understand. Not even in their confirmation emails or the app.

Where on the website did you find it? And why are they hiding it? Seems weird to me.
