Yellowstone TV Show

Did I mention it's CO-ED?

Earlier this week my daughter asked if we could drive separately so she could have some "independence" (It's a 3 hour drive). Uh, no.

How many bottles of wine are you taking?

LOL. My therapy / coping mechanism is the gym and I just located one nearby and bought a weekend pass. I'll hide there.

My over-ear , noise cancelling headphones will also be packed.

I normally don't like scripted shows, but I think I will check this out - thank you. The scenery & cowboy stuff will be my hook.
(my fantasy life is the Pioneer Woman - Ree Drummond).

Pray for me this weekend. I am the adult chaperone for a group of 15 teens (17-19 YO) at a long weekend cabin trip. Kill me now.
Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I like the show but have missed a lot of it. Sometimes forget to put it on. At some point in the far off future maybe can binge watch reruns when available.

Casa Bennett enjoys Yellowstone (the TV show) too. We stumbled upon it because I thought it was about Yellowstone, the national park. LOL

Late to the party, but it has been on our "to do list". Our library has all 5 seasons on DVD/BluRay (whatever) and we have been binging.

We initially did not like Beth, but now really enjoy her brand of nasty.

My husband and I are Canadian. I had heard that Yellowstone was a popular series in America and so thought I would watch...mostly to see what all the hype was about.

Seriously, I wanted to know if this show was a good representation of how things worked in small town rural America....and get a different perspective on a driving force in American politics.

Well...for about 5 years we enjoyed the series, especially the underlying theme about a man trying to preserve a way of life built on hard work that was being eroded by wealthy outsiders who had no respect for the hardworking people who built the land up from the beginning.

Also the show had an interesting side theme about First Nation's people and the struggles they are going through battling modern age demons and trying to preserve what is good about their heritage.

And how can we skip over Beth and her antics that kept up laughing yet admiring her skill in living and working in a male orientated world.....and she is one beautiful woman.

I am of a certain age....and I wouldn't kick Rip out of bed for eating crackers...no way...no how.

There is something about the music, the scenery and the epic themes of honor, bravery, love that hearkens back to a time when beautiful movies, meant for the big screen were made and enjoyed by the whole family. PS Yellowstone is certainly adult oriented...so not meant for young teens or younger.

We got tired of the show however, when Sheridan decided to devote a large part of it to promoting new spinoffs. He used the writing in the show to be watered down due to the fact he was devoting most of his time with newer projects. The writing suffered and we kind of lost interest. We have not watched the last season....not sure if the writing improved...but I think it did not. Maybe someone else can chime in on it.

During this time off from Yellowstone, my son convinced us to watch Breaking Bad. Now THAT television series was worthy of all the awards won over the years. Very tight writing, excellent acting...not a missed moment in BB. Yellowstone, had possibilities but they were squandered by a lapse in attention to the show by the director and it devolved into a poor version of a soap opera.

The first 3-4 seasons are worth watching....the second last season...meh....and the last season a question mark for me.

Enjoyed the first 4 seasons but decided to ignore S5 after the delays over a scheduling dispute with Costner. Not sure I want to watch a season when it will probably never come to a conclusion. We will see if the second half of S5 ever is finished after the writer and actor strikes end.

Beth is one heck of a strong woman character that makes us love to hate her. To me, Yellowstone is the modern day version of Dallas in many ways.

Speaking of Canada, we love Heartland. I cannot believe how much I enjoy that show every night before bed. I will be disappointed when we catch up to the current season, but we just started season 7 last night. Love my horse shows.

Love Yellowstone, spent a lot of time watching the previous seasons again. I don't know what the next season will bring for the ranch, but hopefully they will tie it up in nice bow at the end and not leave us all wondering. Beth was wondering why they raise cattle and don't sell the beef. Good question. My grandpa sold his cattle and had some butchered for the freezer.

This has as much basis in reality as "Dallas" did 40 years prior. Many of the characters and themes can be mapped back to "Dallas".

Also "The Godfather" comes to mind: "I knew it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart!"

Agree the writing got worse as the seasons went on. We watched 1883 before any Yellowstone episodes & there is no comparison...1883 is great! 1923 is ok but more of it is coming. Yellowstone is missing something compared to the other two show in my mind.

We enjoy it. It took a little while to get rolling in season 1.

All That beautiful scenery is shot in Utah, not Montana.

My tenant is from Montana. She says they call Bozeman, Boze Angeles.
I believe some of it IS shot in Montana

We have watched all of Yellowstone , 1883 and 1923 series. We liked the original Yellowstone the best. I'm not a Kevin Costner fan but he did pretty good in Yellowstone. It would be easy to binge any of the series, imo.

I was a young adult during the Dallas run and so I worked a lot of nights waitressing. Never really watched the show.
Thanks for the comment

Yellowstone CHANGES! Kevin Costner series gets a major new network television makeover after making its debut on CBS

  • Yellowstone has aired its first four-and-a-half seasons on Paramount Network
  • The cable channel has much looser censorship requirements
  • Broadcast television channels like CBS need to edit out offensive content

I watched episode last Sunday. Rediscovered why I stopped watching years ago.

I will try it again tonight. It wasn’t any better last week than I remember it a few years ago. I hope if I get roped in, they will show the entire thing on CBS, or make it all available on demand. I stumbled across the prequel while channel surfing last month and wondered if it was On Demand — it was, but not from the beginning, so I didn’t bother.

Except that Beth is JR.
