Wyndham View From the Balcony

No, nothing but I should have. I just didn't sit there!

We're going back there Saturday. I'll mention it then.
We checked in yesterday afternoon. I told the girl who checked us in about the bird's nest and poop coated chair. She kind of giggled and said they couldn't do anything about the nest if there were eggs or chicks in it. (She's a bit of a dingbat.) I doubt anything will be done at all.

Great pictures, including the one of the bird poop. Unless the bird is an eagle, the bird nest should be removed and the balcony cleaned.

A quick Google search turns up that, in many states, this is not true. It may very likely be illegal (and not cool) to remove an active birds nest. There can be exceptions if the bird is an invasive species.

“A person shall not take, disturb or destroy a nest or eggs of any bird except an English sparrow, crow, jay or starling.”

How did you like Smugglers Notch? It's been years since we've been, but I've always shied away from it. I thought the Smuggs Pass was confusing and wasn't sure if only owners got it, or certain types of owners, or if you still had to pay to use some things. I had a hard time getting straight answers and kind of threw my hands up. We were there during ski season and didn't pay anything for anything we did (shuttle to the slopes or use the pool by us), but it was hard to know what we needed and I think we almost bought a pass before finding out we didn't need to.

We've enjoyed Smuggs every time we've been there but I have to admit, the array of extras is daunting. We've never bought (or received) Smuggs passes and never missed it. I don't know what a Smuggs pass does. Nor do I know what one can do without a Smuggs pass as an owner or non-owner.

We tend to do things off-site.

How did you like Ocean Walk? We’ve been debating trying it but the reviews on TripAdvisor are mixed.
Pro’s -
1. It’s on the beach. Well, mostly. All standard 2 bedroom lockoffs and 3 bedroom units are oceanfront and I believe they have one 4 bedroom Presidential (I may be wrong on that).
2. it’s only an hour drive for me so it’s great to get away to the beach for a few days.

Cons-
1. The other units have a “city view” and some may have partial ocean views. The balconies are very small. Just enough room for a couple of cheap plastic strap chairs.
2. The buildings are old and not the best maintained.
3. There isn’t much to do in the area. The race track is about a15-20 minute drive. The area around the track has some shopping and decent, not great, restaurants. There’s also an outlet mall a couple miles from that area.

If it wasn’t so close and on the beach, we’d probably never come here.

Club Wyndham Desert Blue, Las Vegas from an 11th floor Margaritaville Vacation Club unit. The views from this property all have a blue tint to them as it seems the windows have a blue tint. Perhaps how the property gets its name?

Where is it in relation to the strip? Walkable, or no?

West of the strip but not really walkable to the strip. Not really walkable to much of anything as there isn't much close to it. They do have an hourly shuttle to Treasure Island. Though the shuttle only runs till 9pm on weeknights and 1am on Saturday and Sunday.

We chuckled about that, when my daughter (was in her 20's) went with friends (to Grand Desert) she said the shuttle was ending at about the time they were ready to go out.

We are actually at Grand Desert now and it seems their shuttle ends at 9pm every day. No extended hours on the weekends. Grand Desert is a little more accessible to the strip with good sidewalks between the property and the strip. Still about half a mile though.

Desert Rose, and if not for the tree I would have the perfect view for Tuesday night.

Is that supposed to be the balcony for a unit? Rather spartan, no? Maybe it's one of those blind squirrels, but no acorn there.
The balconies are a bit spartan. The one with the squirrel is for a 2 BR Presidential, I believe. Here's the furniture on our studio deluxe:
Austin.jpg

The one next door wraps around and probably has a similar set of furniture around the corner where we couldn't see it. This is actually a WorldMark floor; we are here on a Club Wyndham reservation but got here early (checked in at 8:30) and they shifted us to this one rather than a Wyndham room. Think I like this one a bit better despite getting Folgers instead of Lavazza.

The squirrel was chewing on something and seemed quite proud of it.

Deleted I figured out the issue.

Club Wyndham Midtown 45, room 1702, 1 bedroom deluxe (got a surprise upgrade from a hotel room double to a 1 bedroom at check-in). We loved this hotel, 3 blocks from grand central station, you could see the Chrysler building from our window, the rooftop lounge was great, got hot chocolate for the kids up there at night. Really, I can’t say enough positive things about this one, we were sad it was only a 2 night stay and will definitely be back:

Wyndham Flagstaff. We had a 2 bedroom loft, which was huge and had a very nice private hot tub on the deck! Deer would walk right by our deck every morning. We thoroughly enjoyed this resort….a short drive to several national monuments and 40 minutes to Williams, where we took the train to the Grand Canyon. Great vacation!

are the three bedroom balconies the same size?
