My first time to Macro Island. I have a number of units booked after a family cruise for end of July for 4 days. My wife and I are going to extent it a few days at the Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburon for 3 days using reward points (106K points plus a certificate) because they had points saver availability and I do not have enough points to extent Crystal Shores. I am use to HHI in the summer (July/August) with it's heat and humidity, will Marco Island be worse? More important my kids and their spouse are not going on the cruise this year so I booked a 3 bedroom in Crystal Shores for June. Would it be too hot for an 18 month old to enjoy? We took our kids to HHI when they were that age during the summer but I guess we were bad parents.

I spent 6 weeks in South Florida in the Summer of 2020 during the height of the COVID shut downs in other areas. Yes it was hot and humid, but it wasn't as unbearable as i envisioned it being and the one July 4th I spent at Hilton Head several years ago was the highest and most miserable vacation of my life! It was 100+ degrees and like 90% humidity everyday that week. So in my experience I think Hilton Head in the Summer is worse- but that may not be everyone's experience. I will say the one thing with gulf coast beaches in the summer is the Gulf of Mexico is so damn warm you can't even really cool off by swimming!

I agree that HHI is hot and humid. It changed many a tennis and golf play. Glad to hear it is not worse in Macro Island. Thanks for your reply.

Regarding humidity/heat on the East Coast...Florida humid is just tropical, which also gives you better air quality because there is always a breeze / wind. Hilton Head (and hell, all the way up to Boston) Atlantic coast hot and humid is miserable with horrible air quality and generally not much of a relief from the wind.

We've flown to Florida in the summer and it's been cooler there than here in Baltimore.

ETA: Sunscreen!! in Florida in July. That sun is oppressive.

I was down in Orlando last week. Walked a few miles back and forth between the coin show at the convention center and Las Palmeras Hilton. 95 degrees and dew point of 77 made for brutal heat. I always wore an undershirt because after a mile or so of walking, I was drenched in sweat. Didn't see many people going for walks! Evenings by the pool weren't bad, though.

I did not go to the sales presentation here. I was already irritated before speaking to him because I could not complete a Costa Rica booking on release day last Tuesday (and again today). At this point, the system is so bad on release day that I am starting to wonder if the Abound program is any good. Possibly with combining Vistana and MVC, it is increasing demand beyond the point that the system can handle reservations on release days. So I said I do not want more points since I can’t get the bookings that I want. Also I told him when I checked in here, the hotel’s reservation system was down and I had to wait too. If Marriott’s reservations systems do not work, then I can’t see why people would buy more points.
Bravo.

We need to absolutely bombard the sales staff with complaints about MVC's IT issues. We need to tell them repeatedly that it is a waste of time to attend presentations and stupid to buy more Abound points when it is difficult to impossible to make reservations. And then, we need to stop attending presentations. Perhaps the sales department will then send the message to corporate that IT needs to be fixed.

Have you been to Florida this summer? It is nothing like it used to be. The ocean temperatures are up to the 90s. The heat index is up to 108 all over South FL (east and west coasts). On days with no breeze, it feels even worse. I grew up in Florida and visit almost annually. It used to be that the summers were 80s max And very consistent. It was always hot and humid but nothing like this year. I am not sure I will return to Florida in the summers if this continues. My next 2 trips are planned for Feb 2024 and Feb 2025. Hopefully, that will be a nice time.

Do any timeshare properties have pool chillers?
They have chillers for the pools at the Hillside Haylofts at Flora Farms in Los Cabos. Makes it really nice if you're there in the summer to enjoy mango season.

We vacation in Fort Lauderdale every January at BPT….South Florida has the warmest average temps in the continental U.S. in January...weather is usually delightful...We will be returning to Crystal Shores in May 2024…weather in Marco Island when we have been there in May has been great…We will be at Oceana Palms in September and I’m pretty sure the weather will be Hot and Humid most days.

Winter should be great. That’s why we planned our next 2 FL vacations for February.

In January and February you can expect dry and sunny days with high temps in the mid 70‘s and lows in the low 60’s…..although,4 years back in January, we had 80 degree temps daily the whole week in Fort Lauderdale.
