Why Buy Points?

I've tried right at 9:00am on the 13 month release and can never get surf club in Aruba or Grande ocean. I have tried 2 years in a row multiple times. These things are worthless
Aruba is one of the tougher ones, but we booked Aruba Ocean Club for this past early March in March 2024 right at 12 months. Surf Club was available too. Not all inventory is released at 13 months. You should always try again at 12 months. Over the years, I have found booking at 12 months to be more reliable than at 13 months.

In our 11 years as MVC points owners we have never failed to get the exact points reservation we wanted. Having said that, we have never needed to book high demand summer vacation months or Easter spring break, but we have successfully booked multiple winter weeks in Maui, Kauai, Big Island, and Aruba. Those are also high demand times.

VAC stock up ~ 50% in 3 months, so I guess the end is delayed for now. Difficult to make conclusions based on short term market swings.

I have been here at Ridge Tahoe (technically now Tahoe Ridge under HICV) since Saturday, and after nearly 15 years in the timeshare game, I acknowledge that I am spoiled over the years and can no longer thoroughly enjoy myself with less than Marriott quality accommodations. I am going to purchase into Marriott and am weighing points vs weeks. The info and debate in this thread has very clearly helped me to make my decision!

Well, it's still down by 50% over the past four years. That said, the company isn't going anywhere. I am sure they can make adjustments. We just won't see a lot of dynamic growth in the company. I get alerts on all the articles about the company. Some say the stock is great and others say it should be avoided. It will keep plugging along as a small-mid cap company. Until the stock price starts to impact the resort experience, I will just pay it a little attention.
