I think Mike Rowe (from Dirty Jobs) would make a good host. He appears to be bright, very fast on his feet, and knows how to play to the camera.

I enjoy his podcasts on Facebook. I'd like to see ABC narrow it down to about three contenders. Have each one do a week or two of shows and let the viewers weigh in. Mike Rowe would be one of the people both my husband and I would pick to be given a shot at it.

My husband and I are sitting here talking about who else we would like to see given a shot. So far all we've come up with is a list of the qualities that person should have. Anyone else have other qualities they would add to the list?

1. Intelligent
2. Nice speaking voice
3. Sense of humor, but not a clown
4. Gravitas (dignity, seriousness or solemnity of manner)

Alex, over the years, has become the embodiment of Jeopardy. He seems to know the answers to all questions even beyond what the writers have given him, showing a vast
range of knowledge. He is the experienced elder and has retained his quick witted humor and he never sounds superior to a player who might get something wrong.

It's been said that Jeopardy is more than just some, "game show" It maintains a dignified air with it's lack of bells and whistles. There's none of the tension invoking music that
most current game shows have. With Jeopardy you get the lullaby "Think", while players write down their final answers. There's no shouting and encouragement from the studio
audience.

I don't think that just any young, flamboyant, comical game show host will work. Jeopardy has become much more than that and replacing Alex Trebek will be difficult at best.

I'm going out on a limb...I think Austin Rogers would do it, and he also was a ratings bonanza and internet sensation. He cleans up pretty good...I met him tending bar in Hells Kitchen, and I didn't even recognize him when he shaved his beard. His wearing of frumpy suits from thrift stores makes him "every man" and that's endearing too. Maybe he would love it out in LA or Burbank or wherever it's taped, because he loves cars and especially classic cars. Isn't Southern California still the place for car culture? Anyway...Austin Rogers would be my pick if I were the executive producer of that show.

And as for a woman, I can't think of alot of gals right now, but, I just heard that certain "royals" are going to stop doing their royal "duties" and will be living half time in the USA. So...wouldn't Meghan Markle be a ratings bonanza? Plus she's smart, gorgeous, and she has a following on both sides of the pond.

Austin seems to be the one person you would totaly enjoy having a few beers with and just hanging out. But host of Jeopardy and replacing Alex? That may be a stretch. For me, Ken would fit the bill however, based on this....

One thing that will be difficult to replace is Alex' spot-on pronunciations, especially of French clues, Though I suspect the writers play to his being a native speaker of that language.

The man seems to have a great knowledge of both the pronunciation and enunciation of words and terms in many languages. Unlike most other hosts who seem to have neither even when
it comes to the English language.

Right on. Not sure I knew who Alex was before Jeopardy.

He was unknown to a lot of people but not a lot of Canadians as he hosted a quiz show for high school students called Reach For The Top which was taped in Toronto in the 70's (and possibly before and after). High school students studied all sorts of subjects and trivia knowledge to get on their school team and then the team competed with other schools' teams for the championship. A former Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, was on the show on his high school's team in 1978.
