Which Restaurant.com restaurants in Williamsburg?

We'll be in Williamsburg later this spring and I need input to choose which certificates to take from restaurant.com? There are 5 of us, including two teens and a 9-year old. Are any of these "must do's" or "definitely avoid's"?

The only one on the list that we have been to is Season's. It's not a must do, but is a good value for downtown Williamsburg when one has a Restaurant.com coupon. The food is good, but not outstanding. We go here somewhat regularly, because it's one of the more affordable restaurants in the downtown area and it is definately "kid friendly".

Noticed that Aroma's wasn't on your list. Too bad. This is a great little coffee/dessert/lunch spot.
 
My whole family really enjoyed Seasons last summer and you can't beat the location. It is right in Colonial Williamsburg. Service and food was great even during a busy week like July 4th. We would go again.

Back late last year, I picked up GC's for our trip in May for the following:

1776 (located right at Patriot's Place in the hotel)
Shackelfords (good seafood, a tough GC to get because they limit them monthly)
Seasons (been there many times and never disappointed)

My personal opinion based on past experience is that Mexican restaurant GC's are hard to use for just two people, so we've steered clear of them. For your group, that won't be an issue. I haven't been to either of the two you list, however.

You probably are but just in case, make sure you are planning a meal in one of the restaraunts in the restored area. (Just a comment)
 
We love Shacklefords II and Seasons is a decent choice too. South of the Border is good if you like Mexican, very authentic, but nothing fancy for atmosphere. Seasons is the only one in the historic area. My first choice would be Shacklefords II.
 
The Food For Thought Place is new and although I haven't eaten there my sister has eaten there several times and says it's pretty good.

I'm not a huge fan of Seasons. It reminds me of institutional food. Lots of reheated stuff. You can do a lot better for your money at Blue Talon, and for a little more can eat at the Trellis, The Fat Canary, and Berretts.

Locals like the Tequilla Rose.
 
I completely agree.

Most of the good restaurants in Williamsburg aren't in the coupon program.

Matt's right- many of the good restaurants in Wburg are not in the coupon books. I know many people on this board love Seasons- we only go there when someone who is visiting wants to eat there. The other restaurants in Merchant's Square are much better, such as The Fat Canary, The Trellis, The Cheese Shop, and even Aromas- one block away. Berrets is usually good for seafood, but they've not been as good lately as they used to be.

I think Blue Talon Bistro is still closed from the fire.

There is another thread all about what to do in Williamsburg and where to eat. If I find it, I'll post the link here.
 
Seasons - Discount Coupon

I was going to buy a Seasons GC from Restaurant.com now that they are available again but noted a $50 minimum which for the two of us may or may not be possible. In searching their website, however, I did find that they are offering a 20% off discount for lunch for two . . . and/or dinner for two:
