I am not that familiar with the recent changes with Wyndham/RCI. Is it even worth depositing the 31,000 points into RCI, when it takes 74,000 to books a Studio in Quiet season? If I deposit the 31,000 now, and next year make another deposit into RCI, can I then combine both deposits to book a week through RCI? What are the associated costs? I am out of transaction reservations so I would I have to pay a Wyndham fee to make the 31,000 deposit? If so, how much?

I just made a reservation for the last of my 2011 points, 3 nights at Bonnet Creek..Ill be losing 750 points at the end of the year

A deposit to RCI will cost you a transaction fee and the one next year will too, but you can combine the points for one exchange reservation...rci will zing you their exchange fee when you make that reservation

So use it or lose it or pay Wyndham and RCI

To avoid this for next year you might consider putting your points in the points credit pool the cost is $39 but the points will be good for 3 years...but you have to do it before your use year begins (unless you are gold or platinum vip

YES

You must pay for housekeeping and reservation transaction fees to Wyndham at time of deposit if you are short, nothing payable to RCI.

I think it's $30, plus however much for housekeeping per 1,000.

I still have unlimited housekeeping and transactions, so I am just going to dump the balance into RCI.

Sandy,
When dumping your points into RCI don't forget to take advantage of the VIP points upgrade by depositing as a blue or white season. You have to call Wyndham to get this done. An online deposit will not work. You might as well stretch you points if you can.

Thank you all for your responses. I have one further question. Assuming I make the RCI deposit this year, and then make another next year, does it cost me anything to combine those two deposits and obtain an RCI exchange? I had thought I remembered reading that it cost $99 to combine deposits.

I guess I will have to go back and look at the chart then. I am currently sitting on 44500 points, but the smallest deposit is 74000. Does that mean to get the complimentary VIP unit upgrade, which by the way is now for only Quiet and Value weeks, is to deposit points equal to a unit?

What happens to deposits that are less than a unit in size?

Sandy,

Not sure but I think the upgrade can happen on the booking side now instead of the deposit. Either way you would have to call. Can't be done online.

Combination fee is only for people (non-Wyndham) who are dealing with TPUs and the deposit of actual physical weeks. Does not apply to points deposits.

The smallest deposit is 27000 points. The smallest exchange is 74000. So deposit the 44000 this year and 30000 next year to have enough to use

One can also do a borrow points to book, by borrowing 2012 points, cancel, then deposit to RCI.

This a viable plan IF you are short to the 27,000 points needed to deposit to RCI.

Already did my end to year housekeeping to Wyndham points for 2011. Next will start my 2013 ARP reservations.
