Although I am not in the market for more timeshares right now, the last $4,990 I spent on timeshares bought me 3 2-bedroom fixed-week units. The purchases were Tree Tops, Gatlinburg, TN, week 40 (October leaf season in the Smoky Mountains); Sudendorf at Schuss Mountain, Mancelona, MI, week 32 (summer in northern lower Michigan); and French Lick Springs Villas, French Lick, IN, week 29 (summer). And $725 of the $4,990 was for the closing costs.
Let us not forget the 5-2-1 rule, that basicly said you should never pay more than $5000 for a deep red 2-bedroom week. If you can't find a week at the resort you want for under $5000, you can find a week for that price at another resort that will exchange into that resort. There are rare exceptions to this rule, such as Disney, but it still remains a valid rule.
