My husband and I recently sat through the presentation at Holiday Inn Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg. We declined purchasing because we wanted to do some additional research but we are interested in buying. We love Gatlinburg and visit every year. They were offering us to purchase in points. It seems on the resale market you can purchase in points or fixed weeks either annual or every other year. Would love to hear everyone’s opinions about which option would be the best way to go? If you have a contract that’s every other year, do you pay maintenance fees every year or just your year to go? Appreciate all the input.

Suggest you think how often you can and will travel. If it's only once yr at Gatlinburg, probably better to just pay out of pocket for your trips or renting from current owners, if u like the resort.

If u read through the sticky posts on the HICV forums, resale usage restrictions are very limited with HICV and Gatlinburg deeds seem harder to come by, since it's such a popular location and 1 of the 3 resorts that are not restricted. It's great you found this place bf you bought!
Unfortunately, I only own trust pts w HICV so don't know how deeded contracts are billed for MFs. Maybe the top sticky post has more info. You may also find not much activity on HICV forum compared to say Marriot's so you should take a peak over there too to see if it will better suit your needs.
