I got a call last night from a woman who said she was calling from "Wyndham in Florida." She said since we had stayed with Wyndham back in May (an exchange into Wyndham Grand Desert in Las Vegas), we were "entitled to receive a very special vacation offer." She said, (I loved this part), "If you'll put your wife on the other phone, I can tell you both all about it." (Ooh, clever, clever girl... ;))

I stopped her, and explained that I own several timeshares, and all my vacation time is obligated for the next two years. I said I wouldn't be able to use any more vacation time, "but thanks for calling." She sputtered a bit, but finally said, "Oh. Ok. Bye" and she hung up.

I got to thinking about it afterwards, and got to wondering what it was she would have offered us. Does anyone know what "Wyndham in Florida" is pushing in their telemarketing calls these days? I'd really like to know.

Thanks,
Dave

My wife and I got a post card in the mail for the same thing. We replied as I am thinking of buying Wyndham (resale) and this would give me some information. As well, we were looking for a quickie getaway and this was certainly cheap. They offered us 3 days 2 nights with the stipulation of listening to a 2 hr timeshare presentation.

When it came down to it, they were not putting us up in a Wyndham property on/near the beach as they eluded to. They wouldn't even tell us where we were staying until checking in at their "welcome center". I told them it was unacceptable for babysitter purposes and I would have to cancel. Lo and behold, they were at that point able to tell me I would be staying at a Holiday Inn nowhere near the beach. We ended up canceling.

My DH and I did this before and for us spoiled TS gurus ...it was torture...as we got set up in a hotel room...a hotel room of a standard to subpar nature....yuck. DH said to not waste his time/$$ on those "deals" anymore, and I totally agree.

We received the telemarketers' call last week too. He was extending "a free vacation special offer on behalf of the president" to have us come stay for three days and two nights to our choice of Las Vegas, Orlando or Hawaii. When I asked if they were going to fly us there too (I knew the answer) . . . I told him "no thanks!" Not much of a free vacation if we have to pay for the airline. I also told him there was NO WAY I was going to pay to come see them, for them to try to sell me more timeshare. If they wanted to have that opportunity, they needed to pay for everything to get me there.

I'm not sure which list he got us from . . . whether it was from owning points or fixed weeks with them . . . or an exchange of our non-Wyndham TS into Cypress Palms.
