Thanks, email sent.

My argument is that Interval is not in direct competition with Marriott.com and is one of the most likely booking methods for their timeshares. I would think they would want to encourage spending by Bonvoy members while at a resort.
There are sections of the Bonvoy Terms and conditions that can help you with this, so you can have a rummage for those.
Also, if you haven't submitted a missing stay request via your Bonvoy account, give that a go.

The missing stay request is what started the problem. I got emails then called in, and ended up speaking to an agitated CSR said i would likely lose previously earned points on an investigation.

I suspect the policy is interpreted differently by different reps. but I am now tied to that case. So my email to advocacy was a questioning of the policy.

Thanks, but I am not part of marriott vacation club. I really would like to escalate within Bonvoy.

This stay was an Interval Getaway.

They may stand on the terms and conditions which indicate "vacation club owners" not necessarily just vacation club resorts. Bolding emphasis is mine.

7.1.c. Due to the nature of the MVC Club and VSE Resort properties, the following special conditions apply to their participation in the Loyalty Program
i. Vacation Club Members will earn Elite Night Credit for a Qualifying Stay at MVC Club and VSE Resort properties, and for stays at Participating Properties as part of the Abound Exchange Program.
ii. Vacation Club Members will earn Points or Miles for all Qualifying Charges at MVC Club and VSE Resort properties.

Any time you have a Marriott confirmation, you should use Marriott.com or the Bonvoy app to ties the reservation to your Bonvoy account. Do this prior to arrival. Regardless of what the rules say, if you have it tied together correctly you should get credit. That said adding it at checkin should also work but I have found that the resorts don't always do it correctly.

In this case, they used the fact that the interval reservation was tied to my bonvoy account to say that i had a 3rd party reservation, and that no part of my stay including incidents can get bonvoy credits.

I just completed a stay at Lakeshore Reserve. I gave them my bonvoy number at checkin and got the points for incidentals and all is well.

I was refused credit for a missing stay here at SVR when I could not tie myself fo an Abound account. They considered Interval an external reservation.

Looks like they protect Abound owners at Abound properties for Interval stays - but if you are not an Abound member you better remember to give you Bonvoy account before you check out for an Interval reservation. Bonvoy may or may not be willing to fix a missing stay.

I stayed at vistana in January and had my bonvoy number on the reservation and did not get night credits for the stay. I had many interactions with many customer service and corporate people and they all ended up saying that because I was not a Marriott owner I would not get the night credits.

Did you charge anything to your room during your stay?

No. I also stayed at Marriott resorts this winter and also did not charge anything to my room and I did get credit.

I met a half a dozen people who got credit at Marriott resorts and some of those got credit at vistana villages but no one at vistana resort

I also had a reservation at Ocean Pointe recently and gave them my bonvoy number at check in (and verified at checkout). No issues with points on incidentals, and a 500 point bonus at check in (which i also got at Lakeshore earlier).

I have never received nights credits, and it makes sense to me i don't get them. Would be nice for Abound owners if they do, but it would make sense i did not. I only ever expected the points on incidentals at the resort.

I did originally call SVR after check out and they said they cannot do anything once checkout has occured. So again, i would verify they have your bonvoy number on a reservation before you check out - especially if you are not an Abound owner.

I am a Hyatt owner, and have never had issues getting WOH points for incidentals if I forgot to give them my WOH info before checkout. On the other hand, the Marriott rep basically threatened me with an audit.

The issue with missing credit seems to happen more at the Vistana resorts. I haven't had issues at a Marriott resort in years. However, I had a stay not credited last year for Westin Mission Hills. I didn't charge anything to the room. Now I make sure to always charge at least one small item to the room when staying at Vistana properties. That shouldn't be required, but if the nights don't post automatically, it seems that Marriott is posting them through missing stay requests. I finally gave up last year because it wasn't worth the effort and I reached 75 nights with other stays. It is incredibly frustrating, but in the future be sure to charge at least something to the room at Vistana resorts. That should help increased your chances of getting the nights posted automatically.
