[Ugh] Another Honors Devaluation up to 200k

Also keep in mind that this is without factoring 5th night free which makes Hilton point value stand out and a drawback for Hyatt extended stays.
We rarely stay for that long at hotels, but this is a very valuable feature when we do. And a selling point for Hilton over other chains.

Cheers.

In December of 2019, we stayed at the Kuching Hilton in Sarawak, Malaysia on the Island of Borneo. We got upgraded as Diamond Members to a large suite on the executive lounge floor overlooking the river, city hall and the city market square. It was only 10,000 HH points a night and 5th night free. Of course it included breakfast and this wasn’t any ordinary breakfast. It consisted of six different stations most cooking fresh dishes - Chinese, continental, Malay, Western, Indian, and Nyonya (local). Then in the evening it was free cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and snacks. OMG we were gaining weight fast. We loved the city, the region and had a blast. We had over 1,750,000 HH points at the time and calculated that we could stay six months without spending much except transportation and activities. Of course we would have weighed 600 pounds by the time we left. The same place now costs 20,000 per night so it has doubled. Still a bargain.

AND.... some more devaluations:

and slightly more detail (list of hotels SO FAR):

Wow. Glad we booked a buy-4-get-5 @ Gr Wailea just before we left for Europe. As I said to her: "Use em or Lose em". I'll have to tell her its good to go back to rebuilding her Miles bank account. and skip that idea of gettign a 2nd Aspire ... maybe cancel her Aspire next spring and then I'll get one for the SUB

Hopefully, they will up the standard rewards. It should just work for all standard rewards. If they want to reduce use, just make those premium rewards

OK, this is getting a bit absurd. Though it makes me feel better about burning the points vs saving them up. Still, I do not understand such high point amounts for "standard" redemptions.

I also wonder why PR/Marketing isn't at least giving someone hell for drip drip dripping this bad PR over the course of a year vs rip the band-aid off and then live with it for at least a year (ideally for much longer).

Whatever's causing this, it just looks like unmitigated greed / enshittification at this point.

Or have 4 Aspires and use the 4 certificates for 4 nights at Grand Wailea. We used to use 6 FNA certs a year (4 Aspire and 2 Amex Business cards) to stay at Grand Wailea yearly.

Might be even better value now with FNA with the devaluation of HH pesos again.

I suppose the math might work, but too much of the "c" word ... commitment. I'd get pushback on that commitment to Hilton
We already have HGVC MF payments so the 4 FNC are just gravy for using the card. I cant turn down $50 profit and 1 FNC for ech Aspire card.

Exactly. Not much commitment involved. We are pretty much wholly committed Hyatt people. But 1-2 Hilton stays a year plus the fact that we can make money on the cards makes it a no-brainer. We have only 1 each, because 2 FNCs are generally all we can comfortably use. But money in the bank with no hotel commitment. What's not to love.

Cheers.

Yeah, I know the math. I need to give you my wife's phone #. (and she majored in math, but somehow ...)
I have to keep reminding her to use her FNC. We end up just using them for whatever. I know the last time I stayed in a "Hilton". I have no idea the last time she did, not counting HGVC, and not sort of in a rush to use a FNC.

We have one right now, in her name, that expires early next year, and she can't seem to figure out how to go anyplace nice til 2 weeks AFTER it expires. This is a drawback from letting her remodel our house so that it is nicer than most any hotel. Sheesh. A night over in Half Moon Bay might be cool (literally), but it doesn't excite either of us, so ... Well, I should say it doesn't excite me ENOUGH to push hard to get her excited.
Future FNCs will be in MY NAME, so from now the 1/yr will get used easily & well. I guess I could get 2 Aspire's in MY NAME? Is that easy? It seems like a dumb thing to allow instead of 1 card with 2x the spending power

I'm  again. I have given her that exact equation 4 or 5 times (prob closer to 10x really) and she just stares at me and continues using her miles cards. She would much rather fly 1st Class half-way around the world and stay in "whatever" VRBO than drive 1 hr to stay someplace "fancy". It deoesn't reach the level of "PROBLEM" that makes me push hard
