[Ugh] Another Honors Devaluation up to 200k

I saw that .. Dang it

I think I noticed that the standard room at the Midtown Hilton went from 80k to 95k (someone correct me if I'm mistaken).

I know that, in the last devaluation, places in London (one of our primary places to use points) went up. Some 70K->80K and 80K-90K, IIRC.

Cheers.

Today your portfolio lost about 25% of its value.
Well, only if one would have booked the 150K place that now costs 200K. Mine has (so far) not been devalued by anywhere near that much in the recent changes. So, this is a very relative valuation.

Cheers.

I just reserved a Hampton inn for 39k... For our trip to FL next week. We like to drive down part of the way then meander the rest of the way on Saturday, for the check in. Trying out the HVC The Cove at Ormond Beach. Never been there.

Boo. Not that I ever go for such expensive properties - I still think this is crazy and bad. If they devalue enough people will nope out and priceline for all stays I guess. I've seen significant discounts when I tested that out via Interval's integration vs the HHonors "best price" in the Hilton app, and I'm not actually sure the bonus points etc are worth it. I've been a defender of HHonors since 2008 but if we're going to see 2x a year hikes like this it'll be worthless pretty soon.

I had no idea this was a thing. I will have to check it out next time I;m looking to book a room. Thanks!

Yea, at least in a quick test, the Interval one was cheaper than priceline.com directly too. I don't want to stop doing HHonors, I'm used to the app etc, but I'm not sure it's worth paying that much more and other things have been more lackluster (breakfasts etc) recently so I do feel less beholden.

The Jacksonville Hampton is nice.

When I started at NYC Hilton Club in 2008, the ownership model offered huge value in the hotels, with Hilton Honors point conversions up to 2X higher than other Hilton deeds. One-week ownership converted to exactly seven consecutive nights (with point stretching) at top-tier hotels like the Conrad Maldives, Hilton Paris on The Champs Elysees ($500-700 pr nt) London, Hong Kong, Miami— really anywhere in the world—for a $1,200 maintenance fee. Over time, the HH points devaluation and increased fees completely diminished the value proposition for hotel stays. But, that approach attracted an entirely new cohort of owners who never would've considered timeshare ownership which is really what the timeshare companies should be doing more of today.

That was amazing value. I heard similar stories from long-time Marriott Club Owners. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever

I also saw today that Amex platinum is no longer allowing transfers to Hawaiian Airlines

I had transferred most of my points, but there were about 2200 hanging around. I just transferred 2000 to Hawaiian.

Cheers.

No warning either. Typically with Hyatt at least we know it's coming and can book before rates
