sorry for the up and down folks, forums were/are suffering from a DDOS attack.

support has implemented some firewall rate limits to keep things stable, but it may cause some timeouts moving forward until all this passes by.

apologies for the inconvenience. this week sure continues to provide an endless supply of "fun"

Probably a scammer trying to get revenge for ruining their business.
Either that or hacked-off sales person who lost some sales because of TUG. That's the most likely motive for someone to go the effort to do a DDOS attack.

For the benefit of techno-clueless folks like me, what exactly does DDOS mean or stand for and what is the nature of a "DDOS attack"? 🤔

Distributed Denial of Service attack.

A basic Denial of Service attack is like a robo spammer who keeps calling your phone number in. Since your line is always busy nobody else can call you.

With A DDOS the attacker either uses amplification techniques and/or a botnet to overload a server from multiple sources. Now with multiple robo dialers modern convivences like call-waiting get overwhelmed and people really can't get through to you.

Solution include temporarily renting more phone lines (increasing server capacity) and/or auto-blocking numbers after X calls (firewall rate limits).
