Timeshare Property Taxes Quadrupled [Carlsbad Inn, in San Diego County]

Actually, the value of lots of timeshares dropped by 75% or more in the Great Recession. I have no knowledge of the one being discussed in this thread, of course.

I meant the value of the underlying real estate. Nothing along the coast of southern California went down by 75% during the recession.
 
Local residents try to add a tax per parcel

In Lake Tahoe, a few years ago, local residents tried to add an additional parcel tax of the same amount for all parcels. As timeshares had 50 parcels per room times the number of rooms, this tax was targeted at tripling the property tax on timeshares with minimal affect on residents property tax. As only local residents were voting on the tax, they thought the residents would easily vote for the tax. Fortunately the time shares managed to get the tax defeated.

Nothing like taxation without representation...
