Timeshare contract cancellation

We own multiple timeshare properties and need to get out of the contracts soon. We have had limited success selling. I am looking for specific recommendations to one of those companies that promote contract cancellation. Does anyone have any experience with one of these companies?

Most of those companies are going to charge you $1000-$2000 per deed to "dispose" and may or may not be successful regardless of whatever "guarantee" they offer. You should try giving it away and throw in the same $1000-$2000 in incentives- paid closing/transfer and prepaid MF's before seriously considering any of the get out of your timeshare companies.

Have you tried giving them away for free? Especially here on Tug. I have had much success finding new homes for my unused timeshares. I offer them for free and pay all closing costs.

I have seen others on tug offer additional money incentives with success for more difficult timeshare to give away.

I always find it odd that people will list their timeshare for $10,000 on some site like SMTSN and when it doesn't sell will then pay some company thousands of dollars to "cancel" the contract without first considering giving it away for free.

What are you trying to get rid of? This community will tell you what you need to do to get out from under your timeshare. Many people have given their timeshares away for closing costs. Much better than giving a couple of thousands of dollars to a group that may or may not be able to get rid of it. Many times it’s quicker too!

No that's not the case but thanks for the tip.

My post wasn't necessarily directed at your situation, but rather the situation at large. Many people list their timeshares for years at unrealistic prices and then pay someone to take them instead of first every trying to give it away at no or little cost.

Though the question remains unanswered, have you tried to give the timeshare away in the Marketplace or in the Bargain Deals forum here on TUG? You are getting great advice, follow it before paying anyon any money to "cancel" your timeshare.

Back when I was divesting my first step was to call and see if Resort would do a Deed Back. If you do this, have a good reason and comprehensive knowledge of exactly what you own. I think I had six to get rid of and was able to Deed Back three. Note that it took multiple phone calls talking to different people each time to get it done.
