There's a heated debate - do you do laundry on vacation?

We always do laundry when we have a washer/dryer. That is a huge reason we like timeshares. We wash clothes as needed and do not worry about it. If we did not have a washer/dryer, we would just re-use dirty clothes LOL.

Yup, if we need to. Usually I pack a couple laundry pods and dryer sheets whenever we vacation.

I always do laundry if we're staying longer than a week. That way we can pack lighter. Plus I like to go home with clean clothes. I always bring my own detergent, softener sheets, and lingerie bag, all of which takes very little space to bring and that way I have what I like.

We recently did a 15-day cruise.
The only way we got by was by doing laundry 2x (2 loads each).
Princess' token-dispenser was broken, so they gave 'em out free.
Our cabin happened to be reasonably close to the laundry room.

On our cruise the cabin guy took our laundry and brought it back clean and folded.

We always do laundry. Saves on packing and enjoy not to have dirty laundry when we get home. We use a laundrymat at home so it also saves us money. Savings for maintenance fees lol.

We always do laundry. Love coming home with very little dirty clothes.

We have the time. Takes two minutes to throw wash in - sit by the pool, finish getting ready - throw them in dryer - finish whatever we are doing, breakfast, etc. We usually get it done very early or later in the evening.

I don't need to do laundry since I take the whole house with me (when we drive). I need to learn to take less of everything

Laundry for us.....
Land trips in t/s with washers and dryers in unit or on premises DIY happily.
Land trips w/o washer/dryer: hand wash undies and quick-dry items such as Columbia shirts and pants. If lucky, hotel has a guest laundry.
Or use a service, especially in Europe, or a laundromat.
On a cruise, use the ship's service and hand wash undies and quick-dry items.(Our line of choice, Celebrity, does not have self-serve laundry facilities.)

I would say yes - but there with one exception:

- some timeshares have a laundry room rather than in room units - This mean either sitting there or trusting someone doesn't take your stuff. We have found our stuff dumped wet on the floor once. Sometimes the above are free and sometimes they are pay.

- In-room units are SO much more convenient. Great for drying bathing suits as well.

Didn't know this to be an either or question. We do what we feel like doing. Depending on the length,location, other circumstances. Yes, we usually do laundry so we don't have to pack as much. Sometimes we will take a larger suitcase and bring enough clothes for the week and sometimes even with plenty of clothes if we have nothing planned and are just reading or watching tv will pop some laundry in.
We also do a lot of cruising on Princess and again depending on the cruise length we do laundry. We also cook a lot in the timeshare unless we find restaurants we really want to go to or just don't feel like cooking.
On timeshares we fly to we always do laundry as if flying we always go for an extended period of time.

Yes we do laundry. Even when staying in hotels (I go for HHN in Florida for 9-14 days and stay onsite in one of Universal's resorts) I will have a pool day and do laundry. 7 day cruise? Laundry 1/2 way through. timeshare stay? definitely do laundry.

I do think this is far more common to timeshare people though as just think the mindset is different-we are used to more "home" amenities like kitchens and units with W/D in unit than the average vacationer who vacations to get away from "home" duties. May be because TS people take vacations or travel more often?? Maybe that is the debate

I just got back from wintering 6 months in my timeshares with only a carryon suitcase so yes, i do laundry every week. 7 golf shirts, 3 pairs of golf pants, couple of tshirts, socks and underwear. Why would you take more when you can just do laundry?

Absolutely do laundry. I love putting on clean clothes every day. I love not having to carry ton of clothes while flying. Always fly to our destination because to far to drive.
One of the reasons chose Vistana Timeshares. Both sides of a lockout have washer and dryer. Marriott only has on the large bedroom side.

Yes, we always do laundry when staying at timeshares in the USA. We very much prefer to reserve a room with an in-room washer/dryer.

It's a very different story when traveling internationally and staying in hotels. Laundry "logistics" then become a very big issue. I will usually search internet discussions in advance of our trip for self-serve laundromats or inexpensive public laundries near out hotel. Sometimes we are still stuck doing some laundry in the room sink. I (the male) have purchased quick-dry clothing (shirts, pants, socks, undies) specifically for travel. It's much harder for my wife. She doesn't really like to send her clothes out, and she doesn't like to fully dry her clothes (she complains about shrinkage and wrinkling if she dries things completely).

However, over the past few years, Covid-19 seems to have solved this problem for us. Our last international trip was in early 2019. That seems to be the only good thing about Covid.

Most of our trips are 2 to 4 weeks. Yes we do laundry. When in Unit Dryer is great for Swim Suits and Pool/Beach Towels.

Yes, we do laundry no matter how short of the trip (3 days) as long as we have washer dryer in the unit. There were twice that we didn’t have washer/dryer in the unit . We still managed to get laundry done. The downside of not having the laundry in the unit is to find out that all the washers/dryers were in use and you have to come back again. Welk resort in Palm Springs do not have washer in the unit and you have to pay for using the community laundry. It’s $1.75 per load of washing and dryer. If you download the app it will give you $5 credit. In orange resort, Scottsdale the community laundry is 6 building away. I have to go back there twice because all washer were in use but it’s free.

We don't do formal nights on cruises, so for us, formal night means laundry night when the laundry room isn't as crowded.
