Last week I walked a 3 bedroom reservation through at HGVC Sea World (June 15-22) with success. Just for fun, I just looked at the same dates at all Orlando Properties. There is availability for all room types at all the resorts! Guess the news stories of lower attendance at the Disney parks has truth to them. I was very surprised to see all the availability for 3 bedrooms.

I think it could be that in combination with COVID-point saving, families struggling with inflation and the economic outlook not looking so rosy.

Also, the high cost of flying into Orlando. Plus, the admission to all the amusements park have increased and the increase costs of auto rentals.. IMHO.

also all kids/teachers are back to school by sept.

I have heard attendance down over the summer at all the Florida amusement parks, not just Disney…

I don't know about 3 bedrooms specifically, but we have owned at Tuscany for 20 years and never have challenges booking there. Unless you wait until a month or two before a prime time, there always seems to be availability... Same for Vegas. .. excluding unique event times like F1.

The price of park tickets is a big negative for me. We went in may 2022 and paid about $100 per day per person for only a two day package. I thought it might be fun to use some frequent flier miles and take a quick weekend trip with the wife this fall and leave the kids with the grand parents. Looked at Disney tickets and they are averaging $150 per person per day, then add genie plus on top of that! Do I have the money, yeah, but I just don’t feel it’s worth it. I’ll save that and go somewhere with free natural entertainment like the beach or the mountains.

Currently going to the parks four days a week and 80 percent are foreigners, mostly South Americans.

We own DVC and have Annual Passes to Disney. It is still quite crowded, even though the numbers say that attendance is down - across all these parks. Price has been mentioned and this is a big driver. Also, while new things are "in the works" there is not much for the added price, and a lot of the spontaneous entertainment has not returned.

We still enjoy it a lot (3 trips this year). But I can see where some people do not find it as appealing as in the past with these factors.

Cheers.

Nature? How boring. There's lots of sand and dirt.
No one is singing, "It's a small world, after all."

I used to camp out in nature.
Now, my idea of camping is a Hampton Inn.

My wife says the same thing about camping. :D

Sunsets, waterfalls, crystal clear ocean waters, expansive mountain vistas, all the while staying at great timeshare resorts. Not my idea of boring but to each their own.

We rented a trailer and stayed at a state park with a nice beach one year. We wanted to see if it was right for us. Maybe purchase one for us to use. Long story short, my wife said it was not right for “us.” Within a year we had purchased our first resale HGVC deed.

I never thought it was hard to book a 3 bedroom at Orlando. We did it no problem last year for this summer and we even had an easy time moving some of the dates around!

Yep, my wife is spoiled ever since we got our timeshares. She always prefers the condos over hotel rooms.

My 1st wife had grown up camping in Tents. She was coming to visit me while I was going through Marine Corps TBS in Quantico VA. She wanted to go camping in the Shenandoah National Park. I told her I did too much "Camping" professionally. If she could get a Cabin fine otherwise no. She was able to Reserve a Cabin. During our married years roughing it was a 22 foot Prowler Trailer.

When I was younger I did several wilderness backpacking trips with my then girlfriend - Alaska, California. Multiple days and no trail sort of stuff.

Since then it's been mostly car camping and a little lighter backpacking.

Since getting married in 2006, we had not done any of this, even though we have a good bit of equipment.

There is a state park near us where a local Shakespeare troupe that we support and see every year puts on shows. Now that we're retired, we decided to get a campsite for after the show (Sunday night). It was a lot of fun to roll from the show to the tent. Then a hike in the morning to get the blood going (this is the Bay Area, so every hike is way up and then way down).

We'll likely do that going forward doe the two shows/year that we see in the park. And maybe some other visits.

Cheers.

SoCal Special 3 days one park, $80 a day add Genie for $30/day. Get on 12 rides by 2pm and leave.

We do choose to pay for Rise of the Resistance. Doesn’t really matter the cost. Seriously if you like Star Wars, must go. Not worth hours of my time, but an extra $20-$30 done.

Mickey and Minnie might be worth the $15 depending on wait times.

Space Mountain, now Star Wars last time I was there. To me was a miss, but to each their own. I still lament the changes to It’s a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean, decades later, so don’t be surprised.

I prefer Holiday Inn Express for my camping experience :) The free breakfast (though not extravagant) helps.

Once AirBNB burned me, bad neightbhoor, non-working plumbing, we arrived at 2am and I said NOPE!

Where to go in a foreign land?
HOLIDAY INN.

Safe enough, clean enough and a HOT breakfast!

We roughed it once at a Marriott with only four pillows
The HORROR of only four pillows..... what is the world coming to?
