Last year I switched from my Orlando International drive resort to Las Vegas strip looking to lower my MFs and was also lured into bying more points (before I have learned about TUG and resale!:bawl: ). My Dad owns 14,000 points @ seaworld and was asking me if there are any real savings if he switches to las vegas. in my case I believe that the included insurance costs are lower (no hurricanes in vegas!) and perhaps taxes. Any truth in this? Can anybody tell me how hard is for him to switch? is it worth it?

There is no savings great enuff to justify buying direct from HGVC and paying the full retail-freight that entails. IMHO, anyone who wants more point and/or lower overall MF's would be better advised to buy resale (on the secondary market) in Vegas and dollar-cost average down.

If you spend more it's tough to save

First there are no guarantees that the fees will stay lower - at newer resorts they are often artificially low to help sales then they jump up or there are special assessments later - and, even if they were lower, the cost to purchase eats up years of any potential savings. If he wants more points just add resale - if he has enough sit tight and use them. No need to spend more on a remote chance of a savings.

Thank you for your imput. Is greatly appreciated. I told my Dad to sit tight on his 14,000. No need to add more just for the sake of swithing and "trying" to lower his MFs!

Thanks again!
