One game left in what has been a classic NFL post-season.

Seahawks vs Patriots - repeat of the last time when the Seahawks were in the Superb Owl.

SEAHAWKS SEAHAWKS. SEAHAWKS

Bill

Super Bowl LX will be a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, when the Seahawks lost to the Patriots after the Hawks got cute and tried a goal line pass instead of just giving the seed to Marshawn Lynch.

Repeat? Don't say that or everyone in WA will go crazy. It will be ridiculous to hear people talk about a "revenge" game for 2 wks, when other than the owner(s), nobody from MALCOLM BUTLER BOWL is still around. But, TV has to have its narratives and people can't help themselves to follow those.

I'll refrain from repeating the whole story I've told here before, about the time I was introduced to a couple from Seattle at a dinner party, followed by "Where are you from?" and I replied "Boston." It got tense quickly ... but wine soothed things out

You know, the best part of it is that MALCOLM BUTLER will get paid to do more than a few TV appearances during the next 2 wks. Love Ya, Malcolm. Hall of Fame.

Not still around? Almost everyone talking about the revenge game is still around: all of the Seahawks fans. Many were hoping for Denver to lose just for this opportunity.

Almost everyone talking about the revenge game is still around
Yeah, I've heard "Dead Men Don't Talk"
all of the Seahawks fans
Yeah, I forget about the fans. Well, honestly, I don't count the fans. The hard-core fans, aka "real fans" bewilder me. Sports are fun to play and CAN be fun to watch (or not). Living your life thru the accomplishments of others is bewildering.
:cheer:I do hope a few SEA fans run onto the field and make great tackles, so they can feel better about themselves.

There is a multi-level answer to that. IDK if you care. I put little effort into 2nd-guessing coaching decisions. I will add:
“Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition MALCOLM BUTLER Interception!" cept MALCOLM

It was a bummer for #12.

That is a sad way to live life. I don't think most real fans "live their life" through the accomplishments of others, rather they root for the teams they like and want to win. I guess you never rooted for the sporting accomplishments of a child, friend or family member. Sad.

I don't think most real fans "live their life" through the accomplishments of others, rather they root for the teams
Oh, yes they do. "REAL" fans admit it. Root for the "TEAM"? Here we go, the discussion I have had with a dozen different "REAL" fans.
When you root for a TEAM, you are actually rooting for an OWNER and a BUSINESS. The players come & go. Coaches come & go. THey can be hired, fired at will.
The OWNER remains. To show how irrational your line of thought (and theirs) is, the majority of "REAL" fans root for below-avg teams and they go around complaining about the OWNER. THen ,,, they go right back to ROOTING FOR THE OWNER.

You know what? The most rational of the "REAL" fans with whom I have stated this, say "Sure. True. We're not rational. Fans = Fanatics. Why would you expect rationality?" And I reply "Well, I'm just stating the situation. I don't expect rationality."

And I can always count on you to never supply rationality

obtw, I guess it is worth pointing out your OTHER disclosure of your serious lack of rationality, consistency, or to say rampant hypocrisy and irrationality ...
"They root for TEAMS" ... leads directly to "accomplishments of a child, friend or family member" which means PEOPLE.
You don't for a second understand the difference between a TEAM and a PERSON. More than sad. Sociopathetic.

I very much root for PEOPLE. Not much for a TEAM. Speaking of the Pats, I was a huge Brady fan since the first time he made the playoffs (and then you know what happened). A BRADY fan and fans of other PEOPLE on the team. When Brady left for Tampa, the knuckle-dragging "REAL" fans in Boston booed and cursed him. Idiots.

I thought it was one of the best things ever. Pats had a bad team. Brady was wasting his final years on that team. So, Brady goes to Tampa and gets his chance to prove that Brady was the real key to 6 SB wins, more than Belichik (nothing wrong with Belichik, but ...) Next. SB WIN. All the idiots who called Brady a "system QB" who needed Belichik were proved to be just as stupid as I always knew they were. (and somehow none of them got fired for being so stupid ... because it is alll about "entertainment" for illogical "REAL" fans after all)

And when Brad Marchand (another one of my fav PEOPLE to root for) went to Florida, I had the same reaction, And again, the guy went on to be the star of a championship for another team. Awesome scripts. Happened twice.

Brady to Tampa ... Screw Boston, that is cool. ... Wins a title ... Yup, awesome
btw, throw Gronk in there too. Same story
Marchand to Florida ... Screw Boston, that is cool. ... Wins a title ... Yup, awesome

And when Brad Marchand (another one of my fav PEOPLE to root for)

I also root for players more than teams, for example when Johnny Gaudreau (RIP) went to Columbus I was still a big fan of his. Marchand is certainly not someone I'd feel that way about though - he's one of the dirtiest players ever. I'd have to sit my children down and have a conversation about character if they said they were Marchand fans. His long history of suspensions and dangerous/dirty play is a black mark on the game.

This is what Gemini said about Marchand when I asked if he was a dirty player:

  • Suspensions and Fines: Marchand has a long record with the NHL Department of Player Safety, including multiple suspensions for actions like slew-footing, spearing, and punching opponents. As of 2022, he was considered one of the most-suspended players in NHL history.
  • "Dirty" Playstyle: His on-ice actions have included dangerous plays such as slew-footing (tripping with his skate), clipping, elbowing, and sucker-punching defenseless players.
  • Unique Antics: He is famous for unusual, aggravating behavior, such as licking and kissing opponents during scrums, which led to an edict from the league to stop.
  • Peer Recognition: In a 2020 poll of 392 NHL players conducted by The Athletic, Marchand was voted the "dirtiest player in the league" by a significant margin.

he's one of the dirtiest players ever
You might be 20 yrs old if you really believe that. Did you ever watch NHL in the '90s? '80s? '70s? You probably did, but you've been brainwashed by media recency nonsense into forgetting what a REAL dirty hockey player looks like.

I can think of multiple great players whose careers were ended or basically ended by REAL dirty nhl players. Can you? (edit: turns out I can think of 3 just on the Bruins)
I can think of multiple REALLY dirty players from the '70s. Just from BOS & PHI & CHI alone I can fill that quota. Can you? MTL prob had one but it doesn't jump out at me. (edit: Chris Nilan jumped out and smacked me across the nose with his stick, then stepped on me with his skate when I fell)

"Gemini told me Marchand is one of the dirtiest players ever." = rethink your situation, or, if you ARE 20 yrs old, go take a look at the prehistoric past

Did you ever hear the story about how, in the movie Slapshot, they had a scene where one of the Hanson brothers licked another player?
It got edited out because it was considered "one of the dirtiest things ever in hockey". UCMTSU!

Another correct answer from AI, huh? Hockey?
Yeah, it is really UNBELIEVABLE that people fall for that nonsense. In general, chatbots are lowest-common denominator dumb. In SPORTS, the LCD is incredibly low.
However, it is called a CHATbot for a reason. If you want a better answer you are supposed to ask a more intelligent question AND then ask another and another to get a better answer.

Better question: "how many hockey players in the 1970s were dirtier than Brad MArchand is?"
2 of the bots went through similar stuff ... "hard to say, different rules, different society, but many were more violent" stuff

Best answer of the 3: somewhat similar but better overall, finishing with this GOOD, somewhat quantitative answer
"At least 20–40 players from the 1970s would be considered dirtier than Marchand by modern standards."

Which is good, since I would have guessed 30 or so. Note that it did say that even the 20 - 40 is "not exhaustive".

And then you add another 30 from the '80s and another 30 from the '90s.
Wait til these people's brains boil when they learn that Gordie Howe, Rocket Richard and maybe Bobby Hull were all dirtier than Marhand.

Move the goalposts much?

When the nicest thing you can say about someone is that they "aren't the dirtiest ever" but are merely a garden variety dirty player in historical context, it doesn't seem to me like that's someone worth admiring.

I'd be happy to amend to "one of the dirtiest players currently in the game."

Exactly. The fans are rooting for a corporation. I would rather cheer on Nvidia. I make more money when they win.

Not just sad. Bitter, old, and likely friendless.
