The last time I visited the Hartford Civic Center, they still had Whalers pennants hanging from the rafters.

The team might move. The players certainly move around. Owners change. But the pennant belongs to the city where the pennant was won. If I'm not mistaken, Brooklyn is fighting to get their 1955 pennant back. And they should, because it belongs to Brooklyn.

When the Browns moved from Cleveland to Baltimore, part of the deal was that all of the Browns' history would remain in Cleveland. So, for record-keeping purposes, it was as if the Ravens were an expansion club.

Same deal as when the basketball Sonics became the Oklahoma Thunder. When Seattle gets a new team, that team will be the Sonics and they will inherit the Sonics history.
