This is one of the New Hilton Vacation Club resorts (Formerly Diamond International located in Waikiki area of Oahu Hawaii. I enjoyed my stay at the Modern. It is a smaller building that the other Hilton Grand Vacation Properties, so the pools were less crowded and the view of the ocean was better. It had more of a resort feel to it that large high rise. This is not good or bad, just different.

The Studio / Hotel unit is nice. There is no kitchen and only a small refrigerator and a microwave. There are plenty of places to eat close by so food is not a problem. The property also has one bedroom units. There are two pools to choose from in the complex as well the ocean which is a short walk.

Move to correct thread.

Thank you for this review.

Cliff, did you have a view of the boat dock/ocean or a street view from your studio?

Second question how would rate the food in the onsite restaurants and its prices?

The location sound and look very nice.

Several years ago when we stayed there they were starting to convert 2 units into 1 condo. Did they talk about that?

Good job Cliff:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Cliff bell, that was an excellent video of the resort.

@cliffbell Can guests at the Modern use the amenities at the Village like the lagoon, etc?

@davidvel No access to the HHV pools. Anyone can use the Lagoon because it is part of a park but not sure about the water toys. If you offer to pay cash I sure they could find a way to accommodate you.

There are 2 decktop pools which are quite nice and not crowded. Great views. The family pool is next to the poolside restaurant which seems quite nice. There is a 6 inch adult pool on the upper deck. No hot tubs, however the not tubs at HHV are not great for several reasons.

Owners of HGV get a discount on parking. First come first serve. We had no problems finding a space however we were there during a lower demand month. Modern is nice but fundamentally a hotel conversion. I have not seen a room with a kitchen. For full kitchen and a few other reasons, I prefer HHV.

Thanks for that info. We are only on Oahu for a few days before our week at MOC. Likely will be busy much of the time anyway. We'll explore and see what's doing.

Cliff really hasn't been around TUG in a while. I know it shows he was last here in April, but his last post was in July 2024. You may get a response if you comment on his YouTube video.

Let us know what you think. Modern is nice and is not crowded but it is not as high quality as the HGVCs. Perfect for extending a stay but I would not stay a week.

I am not sure if the low platform beds are comfortable. Our family members who stayed there said they kept bruising their ankles on the platform corners and they thought the beds were hard and asked the front desk for a pad. YMMV.

@Clifbell's room is laid out just like our relative's that was situated on the opposite side of the building and had a partial view of the harbor. No balcony although some upgraded rooms have them.

Have a trip next year and a choice between the Modern or staying at the Outrigger Waikiki Paradise. Which would you choice and why?

Our visit to Modern went well but cannot compare to any other HGVC or Outrigger as haven't stayed there. Nice small resort, but kind of trapped by the lagoon and its large fence.
