Song Of The Day.

At first I thought these guys were related but it's the same guy I think.

Bill
It's all the same guy, Nicolas Baldeyrou! That is what I was referencing in my post #624. It is an amazing piece of editing to get the sounds and various video clips perfectly synchronized, aside from the wonderful piece of music.

Two of those guys look like twins.

Bill
They aren't twins, they're the same guy! In this piece there are actually four different individuals. You can see the listing if you wait for the credits to scroll at the end. Nicolas Baldeyrou is playing three of the instruments, but also in multiple takes, as with some of the others, too. It's a brilliant piece of both playing and editing.

Speaking of Holst, one of my favourites is Jupiter from his composition The Planets. As a former euphonium player, I particularly enjoyed this shortened all-brass version focusing on the central Hymn portion. The music of the Hymn forms the basis of the English patriotic song, I Vow to Thee, My Country.

It really is.

I only came across the Czech coloratura soprano, Patricia Janeckova, in the last couple of years. I loved listening to her marvellous voice, such as this performance from Ennio Morricone's Once Upon a Time in the West. Her career and future seemed so promising.

I just recently learned of her sudden, tragic epilogue. She had to stop performing in early 2022 to fight a battle with breast cancer. Unfortunately, despite initial positive treatment, the cancer spread and her journey ended in October 2023 at the young age of only 25!!

It is such a sad ending, to be taken so young and just as her life was starting to blossom before her!!! She at least lives on in her music. May she RIP.

One of my favourites. At our wedding, my late wife and I picked this song to be the first song played after our first dance. At the time, it was guaranteed to get everyone up onto the dance floor, which it certainly did! I have the album, but haven't played it for a while. Thanks for the lovely trip down memory lane. She will have been gone for three years at the end of June, which would also have been our 40th anniversary. Miss you, sweetie! 😥😘
