Song Of The Day.

Let's go Cuban .... Chan Chan - Buena Vista Social Club. One of my favorite songs in my library.

Two renditions of Compared to What. I first knew a Roberta Flack rendition. When I was a college freshman, another resident on my floor introduced me to the Les McAnn and Eddie Harris Montreux concert album. Both versions have lived in my library since.

MONGO SANTAMARIA - WATERMELON MAN

David Benoit: Song For My Father

Dorothy Donegan "Rhapsody In Blue & The Man I Love" on The Ed Sullivan Show

Watermelon Man - Poncho Sanchez and Mongo Santamaria

Also Herbie Hancock talks about how he came to write the song and how his Chicago jazz tune morphed into a Caribbean Latin music staple.

I've never heard either version but I like Eddie's better.

I'm getting ready for some Bouy 10 salmon fishing. Tested out the new to me used Sea Hunter yesterday. Then this song played about 4 times today. AI must be listening in on my conversations, lol.
