I just wanted to correct the record on Cash's statement that the song "was reportedly sung by both sides in the Civil War." The real history on that point is clear: Julia Ward Howe wrote the song as a pro-Union, anti-slavery anthem to fortify Union troops going into battle. Source: NPR

Some great classic trucks there, many highly customized. For the life of me I've never understood the concept of a highly-polished livestock trailer! It gets absolutely filthy the moment you put a load into it!

Also, in the same vein, how does a chromed front bumper with less than 6" of ground clearance make any sense on a working truck? It's gone or badly damaged the minute you hit any sort of large bump or try to go up a steep entrance or curb!

If the truck is just a showpiece, someone has a lot of money to burn.

They are definitely fun to watch. I've never seen as many as in the video. Around here, we see them at parades mostly. During the Christmas season there are a few classic big rigs dressed up in Christmas lights driving through the neighborhoods. My grandson got a ride around the sub-division last Christmas. Years ago, my 1st grand daughter at maybe 10 was dressed up like a princess and waving from the lit up trailer pulled by a tricked out big rig.

The guys I know do their own work customizing the trucks with their family & friends so it's more of a fun time. It's kind of the same thing we do with Jeeps and other toys.

This is not an obscure performance by any means, but it stunned me the first time I viewed it, and it seems to have affected many other people. One time I was seated on an airplane, and a woman came down the aisle, wearing a t-shirt calling out this performance.

I think that with many elite artists, aging and maturity adds richness and expression. With vocalists, particularly female vocalists, as they age their voices mellow and deepen; while they may lose some vocal purity that is more than offset by richness in expression. For me a classic example of that is Billy Holliday - in her "Lady of Satin" album her voice is a shadow of what it once was, but to me the emotional depth soars beyond her early career recordings. When she sings "I'm a Fool to Want You", you can hear the pain in her voice.

Returning to this performance, Stevie Nicks is 49 years old when she stares down Lindsay Buckingham when singing this song in 1997. Nicks' voice has mellowed since she was 28-years old, when the Rumours album was recorded and Mick Fleetwood dropped Silver Spring from the album. I cannot imagine a 28-year old Nicks performing this song with the same gravitas and power as she does in this performance, where she channels her womanhood to give the song greater depth and impact, eventually turning to Buckingham, almost spitting out the lyrics at him. I also give some credit to Buckingham for doing a very poignant guitar bridge into the ending of the song and then maintaining eye contact and taking what she was dishing.

When I was a in grade school, my dad bought a "hi-fi" for the living room. And then we needed albums to play on the new machine. One of the albums he soon picked up was a recording of the Grand Canyon Suite. At that age I had almost no interest in classical/orchestral music, but I really enjoyed that album

Mahalia and Satchmo. Two all-time iconic performers who have left a wonderful musical legacy behind. It's hard to realize that both of them would be dead within two years of that concert. The world is a poorer place without them, but their music lives on.

In addition to playing in the Senior Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band, I studied music formally as formal credits throughout high school. One of the pieces we studied was Ferde Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite. I always loved it, but hadn't listened to it in ages, until it showed up the other week on one of my YouTube suggestions.
