I have a four bedroom, three bathroom with a great room and a family room up north. When I leave I set the thermostats to 58, set the water heater to low, flip a switch to turn the water off.
Snowbirds here lower the heat to like 55, but they drain the water which really doesn’t take long.

When we closed on our new home it was winter and we weren’t sure how long it would be until we could move in so we actually drained the water as well. We also keep the ice maker off in the fridge all the time unless we need more ice.

Some people will shut the valves to their washing machine even.

We shut our water off even if just going on a one week vacation.

Water is so damaging.
