In the next 6 months I'm considering an ocean pointe resale in the sub $4k range. Are there any gotchas in the resale area that I should be aware of. Not really interested in points, just weeks. Also is it affiliated with RCI? I know there is a comparison thread somewhere on the board but it was in timeshareese. Any quick advice in normal language.

Thanks: first time poster

I believe all Marriotts trade through II, not RCI. I've stayed at Ocean Pointe once, through a kind TUGger, and it was lovely.

Ocean Pointe is a Marriott property and it is very nice. There are a few Marriotts that trade through RCI but this is not one of them. My brother owns there and I have traded into there. What are you getting for "sub $4k"? Every year? Every other year? What size and what view category? Also, you might want to post this in the Marriott forum where you will get a lot more input on this resort.

Thanks. There seem to be annual 2br for and near this level. Plus the higher ones may be ready for an offer...
View is whatever...

I was looking to see if there was some type of “you don’t get” penalty for being a resale

Actually, I believe you can easily buy Gold and maybe Silver weeks in that price range. You won't be able to get Platinum, and if you did then Marriott would very likely exercise their Right of First Refusal.

Right of first refusal... any idea of where that kicks in for gold or silver?
