I know that there is a recycled water program for irrigation uses in the City of SD. I know there is an extensive desalination project in north county. I know no agency in San Diego is pumping treated affluent into aquifers.

Does this in any way make you a water expert ? :p

There is a finite amount of water available on earth. All the water at one point and time has been sewage water. Whether it be the sewage of dinosaurs or human sewage that has been treated and sent back through the aquifer. The water in used for the beer in this situation is probably cleaner than the water that comes out of most city water systems.

It is one thing that water in something we drink like beer might have been somewhere at some point in time. It is quite another to think that all the water in the product has been piped directly from the sewage plant, particularly since any system can sometimes not be working exactly right.

I have been to the this brewery or at least the brewpub they run. I think my last visit was in late 2019, and not sure if they had this particular brew on the menu then.

Singapore does do a lot with water reclamation, and they actually sell bottles of the water they filter under the brand name NEWwater.

They also send some of their reclaimed water back into the water reservoirs.

Lucky for you, you don't need "to think that all the water in the product has been piped directly from the sewage plant," as that does not occur.

Also as noted above, the Newater created in Singapore is cleaner than the other sources of water that have been used forever.

But feel free to keep thinking things that are not real.

So, you contend they were lying to that UN climate conference?

I have no idea what you are referring to. I read quite a bit about Singapore's newwater projects and did not see any reference to water being piped directly from the sewage plant to be used in making beer. The article you referenced did not say that.

Rather, the information I saw showed a number of intermediate steps including outputting to reservoirs to be treated with other water sources before use. As an example, a Wiki article stated: "NEWater is produced by further purifying conventionally treated wastewater through microfiltration, reverse osmosis and ultraviolet radiation. The water is potable quality and can be added to drinking water supply reservoirs where it is withdrawn and treated again in conventional water treatment plants before being distributed to consumers.."

A bit of history regarding Singapore's water supply. Singapore has many reservoirs to capture rain water but they are insufficient to meet their needs. Under a 1962 agreement, Malaysia has been selling unprocessed water to Singapore and Singapore would sell a portion of the processed water back to Malaysia. Every year or so Malaysia would threaten to cut off providing/selling water to Singapore. Singapore started negotiations with Indonesia to be a second source of water. In addition to that, Singapore is working on being water self-sufficiency but will not achieve that goal by 2061. NeWater came about from the strive to be water self-sufficient.

Yes there are recycled water programs for irrigation uses. I believe they are also working on an actual reclaimed water project, but I am unaware of any approvals to directly pump such water into aquifers ( I'm not sure if CA regulations allow this.). There is also an extensive desalination project in north county.
In Santa Clara County where I live, they also use the reclaimed water for irrigation of some golf courses, and roadside landscaping.

After reading this thread, I discovered we also have purification plant that can purify 8 million gallons a day of the reclaimed water. They send that back into the reservoirs and percolation ponds to refill the underground aquafers.. Learned something new.
